Yeah, it's the oddest thing -- as I haven't had a problem in the past with the same settings on Plex. I ended up just burning them in and calling it a day.Rodeo wrote:I don't have any such problem with my HandBrake encodes (MKV + passthrough subtitles) and Plex. Did you enable subtitles in Plex?

Subtitles, Plex and VLC
Hi all, At this risk of this being a Plex problem and not a handbrake problem: Trying to encode Dances with Wolves which has a subtitle track for translation (separate track labelled English (Forced Captions)). When I playback the file in VLC I get subtitles without a problem, but Plex just won't sh...

RF & Encode Speed
I could probably figure this out by running a couple of encodes, but to save myself the trouble -- is there a relationship between RF and encode speed, everything else being equal? Does a higher-quality (lower RF) encode faster as it has more bits to play with and thus doesn't have to throw away as ...

Re: Encode stops at 61% Every Time
Are you sure you've got the right title? Pixar flicks are notoriously difficult to rip (they tend to throw all the weird non-standard stuff to thwart you).
Try ripping it with MTR or Fairmount and see if that works. Also, make sure you have the correct title by playing the DVD in DVDPlayer.app.

Re: Source / Destination on Separate Drives
Shouldn't matter much. Unless your using the machine at the same time and doing something disk intensive, it won't make much difference. Cool, thanks. I figured the bottleneck is going to be the CPU anyway (2.4 C2D) but wasn't sure if there would be some sort of read/write difference with the two d...

Source / Destination on Separate Drives
Hi all, I had a quick question about "best practices". From reading the forum and just general knowledge it seems that the best way to prevent hard drive thrashing during an encode is to put the source and destination on different drives. My setup is a Macbook (5400rpm internal) with an ex...
