Re: Convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK) using Windows Command Line or GUI?
my best guess is 0.1.0(initial version?) or close to that? i dunno... handbrake doesn't use .exe like MeGUI does... all libraries have to be updated manually when the devs deem it necessary... -6 5point1 doesn't work for you? :? works for me... you can read about FDKs limitations/quirks in that link...

Re: Convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK) using Windows Command Line?
the autobuild grabs the latest source/version(? something) from github, whereas handbrake's FDK is probably quite old in comparison as i never noticed any FDK update in the timeline :P i think FDK accepts up to 7.1? :? i only ever use stereo(or dplII) so i don't know for sure... ... not entirely sur...

Re: Converting an incorrect MP4 file
you should be using the original DVDs... sure it might take a little longer depending on your decryption method(prerip or on-the-fly), but it will be better overall... otherwise, i'll need to know what dimensions your non-working mp4s and the working mp4s are to know what custom anamorphic values to...

Re: Convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK) using Windows Command Line?
changelog says they can't include fdk due to its license... you'll have to build the .exe and point MeGUI... if you don't know how(like me), nu774 created an autobuild script :P and no, handbrake can't encode audio only... it's not designed for that purpose... EDIT: although, i greatly prefer QAAC(w...

Re: The best settings to convert MKV to m4v for blu-rays
... FHD Bluray (1920x1080) is 6 times the resolution of dvds (720x480)... if you're not changing the default CRF value (20), what you're seeing seems about right... 23/22 is good enough for 1080p ;) unfortunately, if you care about having decent quality, you're more than likely not going get anywher...

Re: Convert DVD to MP4 problems
the large filesize thing happens automatically with the new muxer when needed (for files larger than 4GB or something)... so it's not that it's most likely because you're not decrypting the disc by either the .dll(which isn't recommended and the version is really old if you want to download it here ...

Re: Can't convert to mp3 audio below 128kbps
smplayer doesn't know what it's doing then, as handbrake states [19:29:32] * audio track 1 [19:29:32] + decoder: English (AAC) (2.0 ch) (track 1, id 0x1) [19:29:32] + bitrate: 93 kbps, samplerate: 48000 Hz [19:29:32] + mixdown: Stereo [19:29:32] + dither: triangular [19:29:32] + encoder: HE-AAC (lib...

Re: Can't convert to mp3 audio below 128kbps
you'd be better off using HE-AAC if you want to use that low of bitrate... not sure about regular AAC(FDK), but it'll definitely sound better than mp3 that's for sure low bitrates aren't MP3 friendly
we'd need to see the log to know whether handbrake is sanitizing your bitrate though

Re: aac only at 160kpbs (--aq)
devs weren't able to get FDK VBR to work properly in handbrake with the version of FDK handbrake uses, so that's why av_aac and fdk_aac don't have quality modes yet (as they're part of the same review)

Re: Question on sound bitrate and 1080 HD
yes, FHD is full HD ;) on the pastebin it says [18:55:48] + Crop and Scale (1920:806:142:138:6:8) [18:55:48] + source: 1920 * 1080, crop (142/138/6/8): 1906 * 800, scale: 1920 * 806 in this instance, upscaling is taking place... although not much :P but it shouldn't be... i remember the GUI not allo...

Re: Question on sound bitrate and 1080 HD
your source is mono... that's why handbrake is sanitizing your mixdown... and i'd suggest using AAC(FDK) instead of AAC(avcodec) 720p is HD, 1080p is FHD your output dimensions should be 1906x800 based on your crop values... seems that it's being upscaled for some reason... use strict-anamorphic, if...

Re: Covverting file from HD camera to Mp4
did you try the High Profile preset? or using deinterlace or decomb? handbrake says(thinks) your source is interlaced... did you shoot it at 30i(60fields/s) or 30p? if you did the former, bob would be nice especially since youtube added 60fps support a while back ;) but your preference :) and change...
