What you need isn't the issue. He's asking you to test your source with these options off, in order to see if they're causing part of the problem.

I do have 1 Blu-Ray encode (The A-Team Extended Edition) where the AAC track is just very, very slightly out of sync with the video, but the passthrough AC3 track is fine. I didn't notice it until after I deleted the source and logs, so I have to reencode it to see if it happens again.

If you write your own scripts to do this, yes, it's possible. I have scripts that do it. But, it's not functionality built into HandBrake, and it's less useful than it seems, given the need to review the source and determine appropriate cropping values, among other things.

Given that no one knows the specs that ATV3 might support, if it is on an Apple roadmap, all anyone can recommend to you are the settings that will give you good quality with the ATV2. I'm not sure folks here can predict the future, but who knows.

Ok. This is very strange. MediaInfo says it's a 5.1 stream. I opened it in Quicktime, which I typically never use, and it too says it's a 5.1 stream. Bur VLC and Plex both show stereo. And again, this is not the case with the original m2ts file. Head scratcher?? I'm assuming you have Plex connected...

It looks like your source is DVD, so CQ with an RF=19 should look fine. As long as your network is working properly, you shouldn't have any problem streaming between machines.

Good point, I'm thinking in terms of Blu-Ray sources.

In general, you should get better quality from the ATV preset, but the file sizes will likely be larger than the Legacy preset, in most cases (not all).

The Legacy preset uses ABR encoding, while the ATV preset uses Constant Quality, with a bitrate cap.

Why can't you simply rename the mp4 files to m4v before importing into iTunes?
