Are we still stuck at AAC 160kbps?
I'm not going to cry over it, but was wondering if we're still stuck with 160kbps. I found a topic on this from last September, but that was about 6 months ago.

Re: Blu-ray and Handbrake
Personally I don't see Bluray being the "real" successor to DVD. It may not be revolutionary, but it's definitely going to be around for a long time. The industry and consumers aren't going to invest in a format that's only going to be around for a few years. In 5 years many people still ...

Well, it could be anything because you've posted no information about your computer, what settings you're using what OS and whatever else. I can encode a movie in 2 hours so it must be you.

Re: Increasing Bitrate to 3000kbps
There are several problems with using 3000kbps. You greatly increase the risk of your movie skipping and freezing on the Apple TV because it's "maximum" bitrate is 2500. If you're using a wireless network, this adds to the risk because your connection needs to be 20% faster to stream 3000k...

Maybe you could have included some useful information with your post instead of expecting everyone to be able to read your mind.

Did you set the Region Code for the drive? You do this by inserting a DVD and launching DVD Player. I had to do this when I got my new iMac and MacBook. However I purchased an external Sony drive (you have to set the region on that too) because I have a LOT of DVD's and I didn't want to wear out my ...

It is kind of rude, but it's honest. I haven't seen a GUI like that since Windows 95 came out. I'm sure the code is expertly written and the program will be useful for people that already know what they're doing, but anyone coming to the Handbrake platform for the first time, well... their head will...

Re: Not reading all chapters
The chapters are not titles. They are actually chapters and some DVD's have as many as 50 chapters, which Handbrake will only list between 32-38 of them. Could you include a copy of the scan? I suspect that the "chapters" are really "titles" and that some of the titles have some ...

Re: Not reading all chapters
I posted about this several months ago. It's a huge pain in the ass. What I had to do was use DVD2OneX to rip the missing chapters into a DVD image and then encode them with Handbrake. This whole problem goes with the chapter merge problem. Some of the chapters are only 1-2 seconds long, so Handbrak...

If you haven't upgraded to 10.5.1 yet I suggest doing that. Do not upgrade with the version Apple puts in Software Update. There's a bug in it that doesn't update all of the OS X files. Use the download version. If that doesn't work, then stick Handbrake on a USB drive and take it to another Mac. If...

Re: Maximum 40 chapters?
Oh I would love to chime in on this as I've been through the same thing. I came across this problem on my Mac often when I was running Tiger. But something changed when I upgraded to Leopard, using the same version of Handbrake. Now almost every DVD I rip has all chapters available. I even had a DVD...

I don't want to donate. And we are taking out needs elsewhere. Right here. I don't trust any beta software that take a user's financial/registration information and does whatever the hell they feel like with it. If you cheapskate whiners dont want to donate, then take you needs somewhere else. Good ...

Open Source with something in Queue = Crash
Handbrake 0.9.1 Leopard If I add something to the Queue and try to open another Source, more times than not, Handbrake crashes and I lose everything. This makes it impossible to load up the Queue and have it run overnight. I can't faithfully reproduce the problem, but it happens about 60% of the tim...

Feature Request: Saving Chapter Titles
This has happened to me enough times to ask if it can be implemented. Some DVD's have a lot of chapters, and it takes a long time to type in all that information. But sometimes for whatever reason, HB will crash during an encode or I will need to re-encode a DVD because of quality concerns or some o...

Leopard: Pressing Return doesn't go to next Chapter Marker
This is minor but annoying if you have a lot of Chapters...
In Tiger, you can press Return or Tab to move to the next Chapter Title to enter text, but in Leopard pressing Return or Tab does nothing. You have to double-click on each Chapter Title.
Try doing that with 42 chapters!

How is Full Disk Extraction tricky ripping? If HB supported individual vob's that MTR encodes, yes then you could say let MTR do the tricky ripping. Since HB doesn't handle chapter merges and tiny individual chapters correctly, my only hope was to extract the individual chapters from MTR and encode ...
