Re: WD TV, MKV files, and animation

I don't think it's that. My WDTV plays all of my encodes with VFR.

Do you have the latest firmware update for the WDTV? Could it be some kind of Cinavia protection?

Re: Hardsubbing animes from MKV

Curses! Foiled again by an ambiguous sentence! I meant where you got the .mkv files from, but I was just trying to get your silly self to admit to pirating your anime.

Re: Hardsubbing animes from MKV

HandBrake's ability to work with .mkv files depends on which site you got it from. So where did you download it from?

Re: Newbie looking for some help

Forum Rule #3. Avoid discussing topics of dubious legality (DRM - Digital Rights Management, warez, cracks, illegally obtained copyrighted content, or rental discs). I've ripped all the DVD's I own and now have to wait for Lovefilm DVD rental to send me more DVD's to rip. It's cool if you want to r...

Re: Newbie looking for some help

Look. I wasn't trying to be rude. I was bewildered by three things. 1. The files came out at 1.5 MB. 2. The poster hadn't watched those files. Simply commented that they were small. No indication that the poster had actually opened those files for viewing. Just commented on their size. If the poster...

Re: Newbie looking for some help

I've been ripping a few DVD's today and the files sizes are about 1.5mb. That doesn't seem big enough to be HD quality. :S
1.5 MB? MB???

What are you ripping? Animation shorts? At RF 51?

If you want support, post an activity log.

Re: Framerate Doubling Filter

Yes, I did try installing a patch once, but since then I've realized that it's easier and simpler for me when JohnAStebbins puts it in the nightlies and I can then test it with some conviction that I haven't messed up the install at my end.

Re: keep video quality exactly, only change audio

1. Rip original file with HandBrake to a new file containing whatever audio file you want.
2. Remux using MKVMerge with original file's video and newly encoded audio if you want your files in .mkv format.
3. ???
4. Profit!

Framerate Doubling Filter

Dear JohnAStebbins, Would you consider releasing the framerate doubling filter in the next set of nightlies? I would be thrilled to run some of my DVDs on that filter and see what that produces. This frame rate doubling filter will really work wonders on a bunch of badly telecined anime DVDs I own i...

As an card-carrying otaku I say that a dirty pirate such as yourself deserves whatever troubles you get. When you have purchased the DVDs and want support ripping them, we'll be here. You can buy your anime here instead of using the five-finger discount. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_scat_265030...

Re: Cannot Rip Anything

There's a really easy way to get libdvdcss and HandBrake working together under Windows so that you can decrypt DVDs without the use of third party software. 1. Download the appropriate version for your system here. http://download.videolan.org/pub/libdvdcss/1.2.11/ 2. Make sure you rename your down...

Everything being done now is going to be in 0.9.6. Until 0.9.6 comes out, everything at this link will be included. http://trac.handbrake.fr/timeline

Peak framerate? What is that? Is this the same as "Same As Source"? Is this an option with the CLI version of HandBrake?

Re: How to disable the "activity log"?

You could always just save it to the same location as your encoded file and then just delete it when you're done. Plus it gives you something right there if something ever went wrong.

Re: Help set my expectations?

How did you come by the first Sherlock Holmes file? Now this is going to reflect on my ignorance, but your source has a stream bitrate of 2800 kbps. DVDs have a stream bitrate of 9800 kbps or somesuch, but it's in MPEG2 format. Are BluRays really so efficient that they only have to make them at 2800...

Re: Subtitle problem (only one line) on Ipad

How did you encode the original MKV file? Also, how did you put the SRT file in the MKV in the first place? I'm assuming that your MKV file had an SRT file to start with.
