Uh, I was just pointing out that the source cvk_b cited wasn't up to date... Sorry. I misunderstood what you were saying. Given that I'm not the only one asking, it seems that you could be underestimating how many people are hoping for this feature. Maybe there are a lot of badly-implemented DTS di...

Err like it says at the top of that README, for the latest info go to the Trac. When maurj picked up the DTS ticket, I moved it to 0.8.5 and the description got changed. I know he was looking at doing pass-thru, but I seem to remember he ran into a hurdle of some sort that made him put it off til l...

Any chance that a DTS "pass through" mode will ever happen with a future build of HB? Hard drive storage has gotten so cheap, I frankly don't care in the slightest about the space savings which AAC offers anymore. What would make me the most happy is to preserve all discrete channel data, ...

Re: Anomaly? I played a .Mov with a 5.1 AC3 sountrack in QT

Just experienced the weirdest thing, AC3 5.1 surround from a .mov! The file(s) are originally created with Handbrake (AVI (anamorphic) with AC3. Since anamorphic doesn’t work in a AVI I saved it as a QuickTime file to display it in the correct proportions. This did not use to work, see my previous ...

How is this one coming along, by the way? Are we likely to see your subtitle fixes in the next public revision? Do you need more people to help with testing?

I've been really hoping, especially with the arrival of AppleTV, that Apple would find a way to carry discrete channels on their optical output, but that appears to not be the case at all. The DVD Player and EyeTV both seem to be able to output Dolby Digital fine by somehow bypassing QuickTime enti...

When I choose to encode the DVD audio track English (AC3) (5.0 ch) to "Dolby Surround" I get two channels in the QuickTime-file anyway. And my stereo also says two channels. Has anyone else made a working rip with more than 2 channels? DPL2 is a two channel stereo track. Always has been. ...

I'm starting to think that my Sony receiver may be the problem. I've just noticed a delay with EyeTV as well, not when the channel changes, but when the application launches. I think the receiver is taking a long time to auto-detect the signal the Mac is sending to it. Stereo signals come in right ...

My biggest beef with AC-3 lately seems to be that there's no perfect way to play it. I tried adding the AC3 library to quicktime. That plays it, but as a stereo PCM only. VLC, however, plays AC3 5.1 just fine and dandy... Except there's always about a 3-second delay before the sound kicks on a new f...

Fair enough. It should be possible to add DTS decoding support to HandBrake - there is an open-source library out there: http://www.videolan.org/developers/libdca.html By their own admission it's in its early days, but libdca is what VLC uses. Since libdca is based on a52dec, which HandBrake alread...

How about if you increase the sensitivity of detecting interlacing, even if you reduce the specificity? (i.e. so that it picks up most of the bits it's missing, even if it causes some bits to be deinterlaced (perhaps by Linear?) when they shouldn't be. It'd still be way better than the current one!...

Re: Matroska Support

What is the status of Matroska support for HandBrake? I know some people have talked about implmenting it, but is anything happening/anyone actively working on it. If not, I'd be interested in taking a stab at it. I assume it would amount to implementing a muxmkv.c file, modeled after muxmp4 and mu...

Golias, Don't your DTS DVDs have an equivalent AC3 track too? I wouldn't have thought you'd see much improvement by using a DTS source over AC3... - maurj. No. The ones I'm talking about are either DTS-only, or a choice between 5.1 DTS and stereo AC3. For example, in the case of Samurai Champloo (t...

You can convert DTS to AAC 5.1 with VLC's export wizard (using mpeg4 audio as a format), if that's of any help to the developers. If VLC can do it, there must be an open-source tool floating around out there which they used to build that feature. Maybe we should be talking to those guys and/or chec...

The problem I have with yellow is that there is too much contrast. You have this thick black border, filled with bright-as-the-sun yellow. I find my eyes hurting more with yellow subtitles on a 40" TV than I do white. Especially when viewing in theater-like conditions. Of course, I am also the...

I have plenty of sample DVDs. I have a fair amount of subtitled movies and TV series sitting around that I can hit most of the needs. But really, the lack of chroma information being sampled is the one reason why they can't do multi-color titles, and are translucent. The work I am about ready to st...

Re: Two Titles, One File

I'm trying to rip a movie, which has done something "odd" and I don't know how to handle it. Instead of having a single "2.5 hour" title, it has a 1.25 hour "Title 1" and a 1.25 hour "Title 2" (with Title 1, presumably, having control-codes to send it to titl...
