Re: VHS home movies to DVDS .
I happily use an EyeTV 250 Plus, connected to the VHS by a Scart to composite video cable. The EyeTV software can bump recordings straight off to Toast for burning to DVD, so no need to involve HandBrake for this operation. See the EyeTV forums at http://forums.elgato.com/ for more user discussion. ...

Re: Audible Scratch in first second of encoded file.
I've been seeing this same problem and it only happens some of the time. The really weird thing is I can re-run the encode and the problem vanishes. I test each file after it finishes encoding; when I find the scratch I just hit Start again and the scratch is gone. Next time this happens, could you...

Re: 4:3 to 16:9 on apple tv
How about trying these settings yourself on a sample chapter to see if it gives you what you want?elangsru wrote:I this the proper way of encoding a 4:3 movie into 16:9?

Re: ATV Plays in Full Screen, iTunes only Widescreen!
How do I get this to be displayed in widescreen like it was on my DVD player? I was under the impression that anamorphic solved this issue. You can mimic your DVD player and 'stretch' the problem rips back to the correct aspect ratio in two ways that I'm aware of: 1. At the point of ripping, if you...

Re: After encoding and import to iTunes
Info from http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/appletv/topic4570.html : Although generally used for TV shows, the "Show" field (iTunes->Get Info->Video) works with movies as well. On the AppleTV, this then makes movies with the same "Show" data (e.g. a main feature plus DVD ex...

Re: After encoding and import to iTunes
I personally HATE cover-flow, I feel it's the worst way to look at you collection, but my Library is HUGE so maybe it's just me. Not just you! I'm a 'list view' kind of guy too. The only place cover-flow is actually quite useful is the 'shelf' feature of the latest AppleTV OS. But then, a 40GB ATV,...

Re: After encoding and import to iTunes
Sorry you didn't find an immediate answer there. Even so, as you appear to have a specific issue relating to iTunes rather than HandBrake, you might get an answer (or a workaround) from the iLounge forums more quickly than posting your query here.

The iTunes tutorials and "Instant Expert" articles at http://www.ilounge.com should help you out here.

Re: choosing frame of video to be used for display on iPhone?
I've found that using "Set Poster Frame" made my AppleTV sluggish as it had to seek through videos before it could display each one's artwork. Instead, I open the video in QuickTime Player (Mac OSX 10.5.8), scrub to the appropriate frame, select "Copy", close the video in QTP, se...

Forum 'View active topics' problem
I find the 'View active topics' link on the 'Board index' page of this forum very handy, but instead of listing the active topics it now just returns a 'No suitable matches were found' error. Hope this feature can return soon!
Many thanks in advance,

Re: AppleTV Advanced Settings (Post PsyRDO)
Note that if you are using either of the last two snapshots, 2742 or the latest 2829, the options I am using for atv are: ref=3:mixed-refs=1:bframes=3:me=hex:subq=7:b-adapt=2:8x8dct=1:weightb=0:trellis=0 which is slightly different than the old options due to a change in the x264 defaults introduce...
