Re: [Fixed] HB Won't Save My Audio Settings w/ Custom Presets
Is that somehow different than "Update Selected Preset?" Nobody is asking for an autosave feature. Just an acknowledgment that this is an actual - if rare - bug that is occurring. I have created and tried to update 4 user presets. None of which are saving. When I choose "Update" ...

Re: [Fixed] HB Won't Save My Audio Settings w/ Custom Presets
I'm having the same problem with the nightly builds. I set up a default using both the "configure defaults" button as well as the traditional Audio tab. Neither are being saved. If I choose a different preset and then switch back to mine, the audio settings are gone. Even if I hit "re...

Re: Best way to encode 24-bit PCM
Ah, thanks.
I wasn't seeing it in the Audio preset that I had selected.
Its there when I choose from the Matroska presets.
Thanks!

Best way to encode 24-bit PCM
Been loving Handbrake for years! Amazing piece of software that I'm incredibly grateful for. It is my understanding that HB still doesn't passthru PCM audio, at least not 24-bit PCM. Whats the best way / closest setting to passthru for 24-bit PCM? I read that FLAC is only lossless for 16-bit PCM. Is...

Re: DTS-HD Passthru failing on one title
Upgraded and gave it another shot, but same end result. Its very odd because I don't have a problem in general getting the DTS-HD passthru working. I'm wondering if it is somehow unique to this title? HandBrake 0.10.1.6962 - 64bit Version OS: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 - 64bit CPU:...

DTS-HD Passthru failing on one title
Longtime HB user, and normally have no problems. Using HB to archive my bluray library for use across devices. Today, though, I ran into a bug with a particular title (I presume) since its the same pre-set I always use. Using DTS-HD passthru on Wreck-It Ralph, I end up with the lossy DTS audio track...

Re: File Size for DTS-HD vs DTS: Should they be identical?
Oh, well how 'bout that. I figured it was something along those lines that I was overlooking, but thought I'd ask.
Thanks for the reply and for the amazing program. My media consumption habits wouldn't be the same without Handbrake.

File Size for DTS-HD vs DTS: Should they be identical?
I encode my bluray discs for use on my tablets and smartphones. No reason for Plex to do transcoding on the fly. I generally create a file shrinking the actual resolution down to 720 x XXX, based on aspect ratio (old habit from lower resolution devices), and compress using RF22. With blurays coming ...

must have just been a bad encode.
I re-encoded both as mkv and mp4, and both played fine.
Thanks!

Re: Playback fails on Encode from LPCM
Weird. I was using my usual preset that I use for all my bluray encodes. Might have tried the AAC-FDK for some reason, too. Was thinking about it, but not sure what I did in the end.
I'll double check and try again. Thanks!

Playback fails on Encode from LPCM
Was encoding a movie, which only has an LPCM 3.0 soundtrack, to put on my tablet for a trip. Usually I rip the disc to MKV then compress w Handbrake (RF20-RF22) and stereo, for portable devices. Never had a problem before. But this is my only title that only has LPCM soundtrack. I chose to downmix i...

Re: Trouble converting WTV file
I suspect there's a broader issue with WTV support and only a few of us even testing it.
Most of the problems I've had lately (see my Hanging at 99% or 100%) post below yours. All of my problem files are WTVs or started as WTVs.

quite patient.
It was stuck on 100% for more than an hour before I killed the process.
The other file that failed was stuck on 99.99% for almost 2 hours before I killed it.

Hanging at 99% or 100% / can't FF
Been using handbrake for years with no problems. Haven't changed my settings in months. Recently HB started hanging at 99.99% or 100% without moving to the next title in the queue. Tends to happen more when converting to mp4, but occasionally hangs when converting to MKV. I believe it only happens w...

Re: Audio Formats - Multiple Tracks
3 - In the Windows version, you have to select which streams Auto Passthru will pass through. Select none, and Auto won't pass any through, select them all, and Auto will pass those streams through. Fallback indicates, and IIRC lets you select, the fallback encoding type for audio streams that are ...

Re: User presets not saving settings.
Thanks, Smithcraft. I'm currently using the svn5639 nightly (64-bit), and had hoped the issue had been addressed there. may have to go back to .98 for a while, since I'm encoding my entire dvd and bluray library and not having the presets to click makes it a bit more of a pain that I'm in the mood t...

User presets not saving settings.
Found some similar posts griping about user preset behavior, but couldn't seem to find the definitive "yes" or "no" answer to if it was working right. I "thought" I had my presets in .98 working well. Had 4 presets: Home BluRay (RF22, DTS passthru), Home DVD (RF20, AC3 ...

Re: Source Size and Automatic Cropping v9.9
was there any resolution to this thread other than trying the nightly? I dont mean to latch on to an old thread, but my issue with .99 is similar. when I change the width (from 1920 to 1280 for my encodes to be used for streaming), in a user preset it changes the width in all the user presets. then ...

Re: Best setting for multi device household media server
Just adding to this thread based on my latest experimenting. Never fell in love with Plex on the HTPCs, and decided to hold off on buying the apps. I've ...

Re: Best setting for multi device household media server
I should have said, "older Apple devices" have trouble with large file size. Since I don't generally encode for i-devices, I'm probably a little behind the curve. Me too. I'm the Android / Windows person in the house. But the GF has iPad/iPhone. As do most of my friends. In order to keep ...
