DRC
Has the DRC changed in anyway sine 0.9.3 and SVN 2233? I've always set it at 1.25 to add a very slight compression, but now it doesn't seem to be working as well? Also is there a scale that you guys have the DRC settings at. I'm a sound guys and am used to seeing compression set in a scale stated so...

I'm guessing once encoded with your settings and all tags etc. are the same. I just drag and drop into one movie file?

Re: Blu-Ray or DVD Universal Preset
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but how do you do this?nightstrm wrote:two encodes -- 1 with slightly modified appletv preset, the other with slightly modified universal preset.
Combined in iTunes library as 1 entry using mp4v2.

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.
First off, what are you trying to encode that ends up at 4gb on the Universal setting? This seems a little big if you ask me. Nate It's a musical DVD, a David Gilmour's concert. It weights about 8 GB (that includes menus, subtitles, maybe extras and all the stuff, I mean, this is all the disc, the ...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.
Ok I already know that this has been said a lot of times in this thread: "there is no a definitive or best group of settings to encode". Alright, but my task should be as easy as it sounds: I just wanna transform my DVD into a M4V file and watch it as if I was playing the DVD! Damn, just ...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion
I've been using the Clown BD this last week, and been having great results. Very easy to set up and use, and you just walk away. About an hour and a half later its complete. This on my MacBook running XP. The best thing about it, is that it looks at the playlist and automatically stitches it all tog...

Re: Apple TV AC3 Audio Out Of Sync
Sorry to chip in here, I just wanted to point something out. I deal with this every day as a sound engineer. When you pass audio through any digital device it will introduce up to 3ms in delay due to processing. The actual time always depend on the quality of the decoder etc. in the TV or ATV and th...

Re: Subjective Question on Compromise.
Thanks. All. I did go and buy a AppleTV, and honestly the quality from the iPhone & Touch profile looks good enough that I am sticking with it. The Universal was crisper, and it was difficult for me to really see a difference between the iphone & touch profile verses using the Universal Pro...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion
Just an observation and a question. Built into AC3 information is code that tells home amplifiers how much compression to use when using the 'Night' settings, or Compression settings at Min. or Max. There are very few systems and encodes that work the same way for DTS. So what's interesting is that ...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion
Has anyone else encountered problems ripping a blu-ray using anyDVD where it says it can't read from the drive, but the movie plays on players just fine? I'm having this problem with Good Luck Chuck and Black Snake Moan. Yep, I had problems with a few disc's, what solved it was moving to a better d...

Re: iMovie and MPEG4 AVC/H.264 Editing
Sanyo camcorders are now MPEG 4, allowing you to put the files straight into iMovie as is, no conversion for editing. If you get a canon right now, iMovie has to convert it. But what if I could convert the AVCHD file to MPEG 4 for editing right now to save on space. I already wish to drop the 1080p ...

iMovie and MPEG4 AVC/H.264 Editing
iMovie 09 can now edit the MPEG4 AVC/H.264 natively without converting to the Apple format or DV which bloats the file size around 8x. Sanyo and a few other camera manufacturers have this in their new line coming out this month. Is there a setting in HB for conversion to this? or is it still best to...

Check your TV specs. I bet you can stretch it via the remote, this is what I do on my Panasonic.

Re: Film vs Universal Preset / whats best for 61" TV?
You need to decide your playback device 1st, else you may end up encoding way to many times as some devices support ac3 passthrough, some don't link ac3 in the file. The list goes on, and on. Each one changes how you will encode your movies etc. I would strongly recommend an AppleTV, as its seems to...

Cheers, I have managed to build it all. The way they recommend to build it doesn't work. I actually found a recommendation of how to do it searching the forums here by jbrjake. the build system has just been redesigned. on osx, for a single step build ./configure --launch or if you like typing mkdir build cd build ../configure make Hi, I'm really sorry if I shouldn't be asking, and I just can't seem to find a solution. I followed all the wiki instructions, and the extra o...
