Re: Cannot seem to get BluRay SRT subtitles to encode into a

Yeah, use another container other than MP4 as MP4 does not support PGS subs.

Have a look at the file details with MediaInfo (Freebie, Google is your friend) and post the results.

It looks like a poorly encoded (Pirate?) rip to me.

Are you sure that they aren't burnt into the video image?

To check this, play in a software player and analyse what's happening.

Did you have web-optimised turned on? It doesn't look like it.

MP4ERROR: File size exceeded 4 GB; output unplayable. Enable "Large file size" to fix it.

Re: PC OK ... BLURAY PLAYER subtitle doesn' t appear :'(

I have all my movies and TV shows held in an XBMC library where I can see the art and title information. When I add a new title by copying the file to the correct directory, it shows up in the "Recently Added" section. I then play the file and press the "Subtitles" button and the...

Re: PC OK ... BLURAY PLAYER subtitle doesn' t appear :'(

This has been covered in a few other threads and I suggest that you search for them for more info. This is another take on the problem from me in one of those threads:- Yeah. Go to http://www.opensubtitles.org and download the SRT file which most players CAN handle. If you want to extract them, you ...

Re: [NOVICE] I have a low quality with blu ray

It depends on your target playback device but I favour MKV for the following reasons:- 1. It is widely supported by hardware media players other than iThingys. 2. It allows embedded switchable streams such as multiple Blu-Ray & DVD subtitles and audio tracks 3. It allows embedding of Album Art, ...

Re: Converting mkv to m4v loses subtitles

Yeah. Go to http://www.opensubtitles.org and download the SRT file which most players can handle. If you want to extract them, you can use "Subtitle Edit" on the MKV and convert them to SRT but it has to go through an OCR process which can be time consuming and prone to errors. Then you ca...

Re: Converting mkv to m4v loses subtitles

The MP4 container doesn't support "soft" PGS (BluRay) subs hence the "burn-in" call.

I think the too-tall problem may be caused if you change the resolution, ie: to 72op

Re: Text within movies showing up in French

I presume that you are referring to text on signs & graphics within the movie not subtitles. This is caused by the way the title is authored with conditional branching to localize the graphics. This is the only way that I know to try to resolve this issue:- 1. Play the original disk in a set-top...

Re: Splitting Chapters into separate files, automatically

I think you are getting confused with terminology here.

On the disk should be held "Titles" which are each "Episode".

Within each "Title" there are "Chapters" which are usually time points within the "Title" that you can skip to.

Re: Help please with output file names

Nope.... But don't forget that the title shown may not agree with the episode anyway.

It depends on the authoring.

I always use BulkRenamer after the fact and it works well for me.

Re: Hand Break does not work on Monsters University

The problem is that "Handbrake" (Please note spelling) is not a decrypter and the studios are continually adding new protection schema.

Do as Rodeo suggested and use a dedicated ripper that is updated to counter these schema and then process with Handbrake.
