from what you are saying, it seems like you have not enabled cropping to cut off the black bars from the top and bottom of your video. i am not sure why VLC is still reporting the original DVD storage specs, but you have basically encoded using anamorphic setting and no cropping. under "picture...

you can also use OSEx if you want to extract the AC3 stream from a DVD.

did you check you panic.log file ? did you just ignore my post ? it helped me narrow down what was causing my kernel panics, maybe it will help you also, it takes 2 mins to open the log in a txt editor and reading an entry.

take a look at your panic.log file located in HD /Library/Logs/, i had some panics and found some interesting entries that were referring to my blue tooth drivers, i turned blue tooth off and no more panics.

anyways, point is, the log can be useful sometimes. good luck !

remove the file from your itunes library, then add it again, and check the image... then try adding the image again.

i ran into this same problem, and the issue seems to resolve itself when you remove and add the file to the library.

mine works and i did not have to open the ATV, and i can use the original AC3 stream from my original DVD. i dont understand why some are pursuing this, i believe it is easier to hack the atv to do passthrough then to encode 100+ movies with this process... if i understand correctly you are having problems streaming your movies over your network... if i were you, i would try streaming over CAT5, ethernet cable. hardwire your server machine and your AppleTV to your router and take wireless out of the equation, see if that helps, if it does... more then ...

if you are refering to MTR 3r14, you are apparently required to "donate" something like $34 to "test" it.
