Re: How can I play a 4K UHD disk on 2K monitor?
Given the crashing costs of real 4K displays, I've not bothered with trying to play 4K content on a 1080p display. I just added two 50" 4K TVs as computer monitors because they were cheaper than a 1080p monitors in the same size class, even after buying 4K-capable video boards. As for whether o...

Re: How can I play a 4K UHD disk on 2K monitor?
It gets "better" - 4K disks carry a copy protection scheme that has, so far, defied breaking. There are groups that claim to have done it, but they have only (so far) posted a limited number of files to back their claims. If you play the "regular" BD that came with Logan, your 10...

Re: Not able to encode chapter 1
"Why" is a tough question to answer. Sometimes a bad area on a disk will only affect one audio or subtitle track. Remove that track from what is being ripped, and the rip works. "Always chapter 1" can mean something else, though; I've seen times when MakeMKV creates an MKV with a...

Re: Converting file to play on a DVD player!
For US$30 or so, you can buy media players that read USB or SD media and play 1080p h.264 video, and send it to your friend with a cheap flash drive. I just got one for my sister, who bought a DVD player, then had to buy a TV that it could feed, and still ends up with hoping the used DVDs she buys p...

Re: Not able to encode chapter 1
Your drive is having a hard time reading the disk; it is probable that chapter 1 has errors.
Tools designed for ripping (handbrake is not) will give better diagnostics. But I would start with cleaning the disk.

Re: Converting file to play on a DVD player!
DVD video is encoded in MPEG2, which is not particular efficient. If your video is not in MPEG2, it will need to be converted, which Toast should do as part of the authoring process. That said, handbrake CAN do MPEG2 video output AND can reduce the resolution to the required level, but those are not...

Re: Issues With Long Videos? Partial Constant Framerate?
The time stamps in the file are not constantly incrementing - Kind of like counting 1 2 3 4 5 4 5 6 7 6 7 8 9 8 9 10. This is done on broadcast video to make up for frames that might be lost in transmission. On playback, the player may use the extra frames or it might discard them. There are tools t...

Do your editing before compressing, if your software can handle the larger files. Each time you compress, you lose some detail.

Without logs, it is very difficult to point you in the right direction. You MAY have the same issue as the original poster of this thread, but it could be completely unrelated.
As such, it is best to start a new topic, and post the logs from YOUR encode.

libav fills in meta data itself. I've asked about it in the past, but handbrake isn't supplying the values being inserted.
I believe there are a few "feature requests" to allow overriding this automatic meta data.

Re: Easiest way to encode multiple versions of the same movies?
Yes, the saved version of the last preset selected will be used when adding multiple files to the queue. Just run the queue and that's what you'll get. If you add a title to the queue, then select another preset, if you click add again, you'll add another job with the new settings. If you don't chan...

Re: Missing Live Commentary after Converting to MP4
A transport stream is one of many "container" formats for video/audio, and the tracks are incorporated into it; there won't be a separate audio "file". I suggest you try a player like VLC from videolan.org, if only because it can let you select each audio track and see what conte...

Re: Why we still don't have this application for Android?
I wonder how many minutes a fully-charged battery would last if you did run handbrake on Android? Hopefully the phone/tablet has thermal limiters to stop it from catching fire... Karhik, the source for handbrake is downloadable. Android is based on Linux, so, if it REALLY interests you to have this,...

Re: Missing Live Commentary after Converting to MP4
Without knowing your playback software, it is difficult to guess what it is doing with the TS, and which tracks it selects to play; It COULD be playing all of them at the same time. It is likely you will have to do more pre-processing, including combining audio tracks, before using handbrake to comp...

Re: Movie is too long?
If you've ripped copy protected disks with handbrake in the past, you were using a third-party add-on to do it. It appears that add-on is not working anymore. Which is why you get the message about "Encrypted DVD support unavailable". Use of third party add-ons isn't supported here, becaus...

Re: Missing Live Commentary after Converting to MP4
Is the "live commentary" recorded as a separate track? Why you play the original TS, are you selecting ONE track to play, or TWO? Handbrake will not merge multiple audio tracks into one.
In your screen shot, you're only importing 2 tracks out of the 12 in the original file.

On the audio page, you can add the additional track(s). You can even select which one of them is first, so that playback software/hardware will favor it.

Re: Subtitles already in movie
handbrake does not have a record function. It reads a source file, decodes the video, and re-encodes it according to the settings you have.
While it is doing that, you can do whatever you want. There is no need to watch the file as it is being processed.

"QSV": { "Decode": true, "AsyncDepth": 0 } Does it still have the issue if you disable QSV decoding? Tools->Preferences->Video, Disable QuickSync Decoding It will be slower, but there are some cases where the QSV decoder gets lost, but software decoding works fine.
