Re: [svn1505] dvd's aspect ratio miscalculated
So far I've been having this issue exclusively with my French PAL dvds. The other offending movies have been: L'auberge espagnole Le dîner de cons My English PAL edition of the Firefly tv series is read just fine. edit: When I get a chance (in a few hours) I'll try the French dvds using a different ...

Re: [svn1505] dvd's aspect ratio miscalculated
I'll check some more dvds today, and also see if there's any correlation between this problem and PAL vs NTSC. I don't have a giant collection, though, so I'm not sure how exhaustive my testing will be. I'll report back if I find this issue with any other disks.

[svn1505] dvd's aspect ratio miscalculated
I have being having difficulty when ripping the Les Choristes (Collector's Edition) dvd using svn1505 (no patches applied). I have tested the same dvd rip (done using the latest veriosns of FairMount and DTOX) with svn1477 and 0.9.2 and neither have had this issue. The problem is that svn1505 incorr...

using diff to make a patch file
I've searched for ages now trying to figure out how diff and patch work, and I think I've finally figured it out. The only thing now stopping me from using it to patch the latest svn is that I can't figure out how to make a c file using the code from the pastebin. I've used xcode 3, textedit, tried ...

Re: interlacing artifacts despite using decomb (svn 1477)
Also, has something changed in the svn code between 1477 and 1500 that would make h264 encoding three times slower, as I mentioned above? I'll try to provide activity logs for both cases to see whether something different is going on...

Re: interlacing artifacts despite using decomb (svn 1477)
I'm sorry, I've searched for about 20 minutes now on google, and I'm not finding instructions for how to either patch code or use a unix command called "patch" (if that's what you meant by "using patch." Could you please direct me to one? It might be useful for people such as mys...

Re: interlacing artifacts despite using decomb (svn 1477)
Ok, I've got the patch code, and forgive me, I've searched around, but how do I apply the patch? Also, I've downloaded yasm, since I don't think I was getting cpu acceleration for the h264 encode with svn1500 (avg rate of encode was around 3 fps, whereas with snapshot 2 (1477) it was more like 8-11)...

Re: interlacing artifacts despite using decomb (svn 1477)
I understand that changes have been made since the release of the second snapshot. I'm now compiling the latest trunk code (svn 1500) so that I can use the latest algorithms. I know I'm being noobish, I've never compiled anything before, I don't actually know how to code anything, so I don't really ...

interlacing artifacts despite using decomb (svn 1477)
I notice that when I use the VFR option it automatically turns on detelecining as well. Should I turn on deinterlacing at the same time as decombing? I have the decomb filter on, and I'm now encoding some episodes of Black Adder, and while most of the interlacing is gone from the image, there's defi...

The decomb option is in the picture settings window accessible from the "video" tab.

Re: ripping to view on macbook pro only
Ok, thanks. I'm using the latest snapshot build now, so I think there is some VAQ built into that.

Re: ripping to view on macbook pro only
I generally watch movies on my laptop when I'm at home, at my desk, with my speakers. Sometimes I watch movies in bed, but then I just plug the computer in, since it really can't get through a movie without the extra power.

Re: ripping to view on macbook pro only
Well, I've now started ripping crf 65 for everything with loose anamorphic. Are there any h264 options which at this point will have a minimal effect on the resulting file size which i could disable to speed up the rips?

ripping to view on macbook pro only
Hi, I've spent hours going through threads here, looking for some answers for what is and is not important for a dvd rip + encode that will be watched only only the screen of my macbook pro with a 15.4" screen. I have no iPhone, no AppleTV, none of that. So far for my rips I've used a slightly ...

Re: handbrake doesn't encode entire video
Wait, I just looked at how many chapters handbrake says there are in monsoon wedding with my main feature rip and it finds all 18 of them just fine. Somehow it forgets chapter 18 when encoding, though... Is this the same issue as described above or is this something different about handbrake?

What do you usually use if not mtr, unless you rip right from the disk?dynaflash wrote:Give Full Disk a shot, its all I use if I use mtr.

Re: handbrake doesn't encode entire video
Yeah, I did do a main feature extraction. Strange that it would make a difference to handbrake; the video_ts files on my desktop play all 18 chapters perfectly. I'll give full disk extraction a shot when I get a chance.

Re: handbrake doesn't encode entire video
Sorry, but what's SVN?
Any idea when that release will be? I'd love to get this working if I can.

handbrake doesn't encode entire video
Hi, I'm trying to rip my copy of Monsoon Wedding, but there's a significant problem with the encoded result (ripped dvd with MTR): while the dvd has 18 chapters, the .m4v file handbrake creates cuts off at the end of chapter 17 and will not encode that 18th chapter. I like watching the ends of movie...
