X265 2.8 seems much slower
Description of problem or question: X265 2.8 seems much slower than 2.6. I'm currently encoding Supernatural Season 1 from my Blu-Ray rips and swapped to the nightly with X265 2.8 and my encode speed has dropped from 5 - 6fps to 1 - 2 fps. Running with NLmeans ultralight to take the edge off the wo...

Re: open multiple files by specifying folder
It works for me, nightly Handbrake builds and Linux Mint.
Just select a folder/directory and hit open. All titles within the folder are then scanned.

Have a look at MakeMKV, it's had play list detection for some time (requires Java).

Re: Too high ETA for a DVD source on HEVC Matroska encode
RF=12 is telling X265 to preserve quality that I doubt even exists in a DVD source.
The more quality you preserve, the slower the encode. Set it back to 20 and encode one chapter. Then compare the two by playing them, not by looking at free frames.

Re: CPU advice needed for x265 encoding
Tough question. The i3-7100 has hyperthreading (2 cores, 4 threads), the i5-7400 doesn't (4 cores, 4 threads). A hyper-thread core isn't quite as useful as a 'real' core. However the extra clock speed of the i3 might negate this. i5 has more cache, but runs at 3.0GHz flat, turbo upto 3.5GHz. The i3 ...

Windows 64bit, nightly, 7f39ee6.
With regard to user presets, the following aren't currently saving or loading properly between program restarts.
Eg. Anything you set up and save as an existing or new user-preset doesn't work when the program is restarted.

Re: Encoding from Blu Ray with E-AC3 Audio Track fails
If the nightly builds don't help, as a workaround you could rip with MakeMKV, encode without the audio track, then use mkv merge to put the audio track you want back in.

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible: 46e641c doesn't remember MKV/MP4 file preference and subtitle presets between restarts. Either they're not being saved correctly when a preset is created or updated or they're not being loaded correctly when the program is restar...

Re: Set defualt output format to MKV instead of MP4?
20151126230838-46e641c nightly doesn't remember MKV/MP4 preference on user presets after the program is restarted. It's also got problems remembering subtitle settings. Been this was since I last had to redo my pre-sets because the format changed. Audio settings were also not remembered but this has...

Between 7048 and 7063 audio passthru broke?
Seems something changed between 7048 and 7063 (in fact, 7048 and 7053 but I don't have a log for 7053) that broke auto passthru, codec passthru works as expected. Partial logs below, full logs can be posted if they're needed. Same source file in all instances. 7048, auto passthru [09:48:24] scan: de...

That makes sense, I didn't have the problem all the DVDs I converted previously using the same method.

Re: Queue not encoding properly
I'm trying it again now. I exported the queue before encoding and it looks fine, all source are Ex.mpeg2.mkv and destinations are Ex.x264.mkv. Sorry, I did not write clearly. I really do understand we can't read and write the same file. Aside from the extension(s), which I have changed, the source a...

Queue not encoding properly
I don't have a log yet, as I'm still testing... but I'm seeing queued encodes getting messed up. Filenames are correct, but the wrong source is being encoded for many of the queue items, often one source file encoded for three or four queue items. I'll post logs when I investigate further, just wond...

I've used nothing but the nightlies since I knew of their existence. One or two builds didn't work right for me so it pays to keep the previous installer on your harddrive just in case.

Have you got your paths/renaming options set up in Tools/Options?
I get the same error when I do test encodes and forget to rename the output file. Handbrake won't overwrite an existing file.

Re: Archiving DVD collection (ISO) to H264 format!
I think at this point you're better off asking on the MakeMKV forums.
If Handbrake had an option to passthrough video as it does audio, you'd be able to process your MKV through handbrake and downmix/convert the audio without having to re-encode the video.
