Re: Anamorphic encoding query

Display width = storage width * 64 / 45 So if your storage width is e.g. 704, the display width should be 1001 if you want no distortion. Posted earlier in the thread... (VidCoder does it automatically - storage 696 x566, display 989 x566). the custom anamorphic implementation is not quite finished...

Re: Anamorphic encoding query

So your content isn't really 16:9. I know - that's why I put "16x9" in my first post  That's why when I put the figure (1000) that you suggested, the video was slightly distorted  Here's an example image - it is 16x9. There are black borders on the left, bottom and right (you ...

Re: Anamorphic encoding query

Just a heads up that the custom anamorphic implementation is not quite finished , so you may end up not getting what you ask for. Also, don't trust the numbers that it populates , there is code missing so it may not be right. Keep a good eye on the encode logs to make sure it's doing what it says i...

Yes, I realise that but I got that figure from VidCoder(!)

Re: Anamorphic encoding query

Just adjust the display width to what it should be, about 1000 pixels. The original file with black borders was 16x9 (720x576). After cropping the borders the video is now not exactly 16x9. So resizing to 1000x566 gives me a slightly distorted video. How do I get around this with HandBrake??? (VidC...

Anamorphic encoding query

I've just been playing with the latest HandBrake nightly, 5159. My video is 720x576 but it's wide screen (although my capture device doesn't mark it as wide screen). Here's what HandBrake shows: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g302/mike20021969/20130108_14h55m04s_001_HandBrake_zps98d8140e.jpg I've...

I'm referring to it automatically remembering it's last know screen position when the program is closed (so that when you start HB again, it's in the same place).

Found it. Thanks.

Also, is it possible for the interface to remember it's position on screen, as it opens in different places each time.

Presets "always out of date" query

Whenever I've installed one of the recent nightlies, why do I always get the message that my presets "are out of date" when I go to launch the program after installation? The program always "sorts it" then there is no other problem until I install the next nightly. Does anyone el...

Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead

So target size is VERY useful for me and will cause me to waste a lot if time trying to get a file under the max allowed size. You can always install a previous version which supports target size. I have both 0.9.3 & the currently nightly build installed. All you have to do is manually create a...

Re: NEW updates for Handbrake

Downscaling definitively gives lower quality If you read my reply again, that is essentially what I said. Upscaling/downscaling looses quality, yet downscaling is available in HB (which you have also replied to). Just to add - the reason I upscale is that YouTube applies higher bitrate to the audio...

This is true.
The same can be said for downscaling, yet HandBrake gives you this option, but not the other (although it used to).

Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead

Constant quality gives you the best bang for buck. Digital music has traditionally been constant quality forever . You don't complain about the fact that all the songs you download from iTunes aren't the same size, do you? I think you're confused. A constant bit rate does not mean a constant qualit...

Nightly build page is back. I just downloaded svn4466 :)

HandBrake svn4340

In addition to my last post https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=22483 which hasn't been resolved yet, I've just attempted to try with 4340 and it is now refusing to open MPEG/MPG at all - reporting they are corrupted or copy protected. Back to 4331 until the next build is released to...

Apologies for the lack of info in the first post. I've just updated to svn4331 with the same error. Here is a log after the empty file created. [Fixed]MPEG2 - P-to-P Seconds produces Empty File

I found a bug. 1) Launch HandBrake. 2) Select a profile (e.g. Normal). 3) Drop/open an MPEG2 into Handbrake (A SAMPLE FILE can be downloaded here: http://www.4shared.com/file/SxqzyoIz/VidCoder.html - please ignore the other 2 files as these were needed for a another problem elsewhere). 4) Select Sec...

Silly how VidCoder (which uses HandBrake) can do this, but HandBrake itself has these little differing quirks

Re: Cannot create a 1280x720 preset.

I've looked and I still cannot get it to work. Add new preset - Picture Settings - Custom - 1280 x 720. Save Filters Settings is checked. On HandBrake window, under the picture tab, display size says 1280x576. I can alter the width to 1280 (but it reverts to 720 when I try to change the height). The...

YouTube downgrades audio for standard definition videos. I found upscaling to 1280x720 cures this once it's been processed.

@s55I will take a look at the preset. I'm sure I used a custom of 1280x720. I'll double check. Thanks.
