Edited with Quicktime Pro
I'm not sure if this a bug in handbrake, but I tell you what happened. I was wondering, how Quicktime Pro is able to edit m4v-files frame-accurate. Lets assume the sequence of I-frames, B-Frames and P-Frames is like this: IBBPBBPBBPBBPBBIBBPBBPBBPBBPBBIBBPBBPBBPBBPBB And assume we cut out the parts ...

Re: Transport Stream + Audio
Ok, understood. My question is now: I select for the AC3 2.0 track AC3-Passthrough, and this track changes form 2.0 to 5.1 at a certain time. I then take the file, open it in Quicktime remove the beginning and end and save it and keep only the part, where I'm sure that it was initially 5.1. What typ...

Transport Stream + Audio
Hi, I tried to encode a recording from BBC One (HD), which has a 5.1 audio track. The source is a transport stream from my Kathrein USF 922 Sat receiver. Before the main program starts, there are two minutes of commercials, only with stereo audio track, which then switches to 5.1, when the main prog...

Re: Preview does not work correct
Well, when I talk about "Preview", I'm not talking about a test-encoding of 15seconds or so. I'm talking about the window, that is shown, when I press on "Preview Window". This window has approx. 16:9 even when the 16:9 video setting result in a cropped 4:3 video, making it impos...

[Known issue] Preview does not work correct
Hi, I try to encode a recording from TV, which is 1280x720. In fact the recording is approx. 4:3, so I have to crop a lot left and right (170 left and 176 right), remaining 934x720 as the output. The preview does not show all pixels. It seems that the pixels are somehow forced to a 16:9 window, crop...

Re: NTSC Anamorph setting
I was assuming, that a player would be forced to show 640 pixel in the horizontal, and therefore would loose quality during the display.
So anamorphic 720x520 would be also correct (as it is also 4:3).

NTSC Anamorph setting
Hi, having an NTSC source with 4:3 ratio. Video settings say: Source: 720x480, Output 720x480, Anamorphic: 640x480 Why am I not able to set Anamorphic to 720x540, even in the custom settings? PAR would be the same, only display width would be original? I don't know how, I tried a lot, but finally I ...

Apple TV 2: Audio Setup for multiple languages
Hi, I want to create files which contain audio tracks from more than one language. AppleTV 2 should play the AC3 track (2.0 or 5.1). I tried: Track 1. DE: AAC Mixdown Dolby Digital 2.0 160kBit Track 2. DE: AC3 Passthrough Track 3. EN: AAC Mixdown Dolby Digital 2.0 160kBit Track 4. EN: AC3 Passthroug...

Hi,
In case of a source track labeled as AC3 Dolby Digital (2.0):
Is there a difference if I select AAC/Stereo or AAC/Dolby Digital for the Mixdown?

AAC Passthrough
Hi,
I searched the forum but did not find an answer:
Can you add "AAC Passthrough" to the audio settings if the source audio is already AAC.
Exporting HD movie in EyeTV result in movies with AAC audio stream, so there is no need to transcode the audio stream again.

Perview only selected Chapters
Hi,
would it be possible, to show in the preview window only the selected chapter-range.
The reason why I ask:
All of my music video DVDs have only one title, but each song is in one chapter. For each song the cropping area is different.

I would handle the AC3 5.0 as an 5.1 with a silent low-frequency effects channel (LFE).

Yet another Anamorphic Question
I captured a movie with EyeTV. The picture size of PAL is 720x576. After croping there is 706x414 left. Selecting anamorph strict it sais: Source: 720x576, Output 706x414, Anamorphich: 753x414 Strict This is a PAR Width of 16 and a PAR Height of 15. Why? Why is it not 1:1? Where does the "15&qu...

6 channel discrete plus stereo ?
Hi,
if I choose for audio encoding 6 channel discrete (if possible), do I have for any (compatibility?) reason have to add additionally a second downmix to stereo channel?
I do not want to add another 160kbits/s to the file, if not neccessary.
Thanks
