Re: File sizes for "iPod High" preset

as a test to see if this was really the case, i encoded a chapter of a dvd with only changing the resolution of the video. mark@Cactus-Fantastico:~$ HandBrakeCLI -i /media/LinuxBackup/vobcopy/BOURNE_SUPREMACY/VIDEO_TS/ -o /media/LinuxBackup/movie_normal.mp4 -t 2 was the normal command mark@Cactus-Fa...

Re: File sizes for "iPod High" preset

I don't understand how I can be any clearer than I am in the documentation: The size of a video is the bitrate times the length. that can't be right. so your saying that a 300x200 resolution video, and a 600x400 resolution video , of the exact same length and bitrate, are the same size? Resolution,...

Ill see if i can talk to a ubuntu MOTU about this

i dont think they will mind since handbrake is just one binary at the moment anyway, which gets put in /usr/bin.

thanks jbrjake!

ill try it out soon

but i have to ask, i notice you are calling for a feature free for 0.9.2....has this already been applied to svn so we won't have to deal with this problem when 0.9.2 comes out?

if you compiled it before, you have to delete the compiled version of libmkv or else it will see that its already compiled and wont compile it again

so i guess delete the compiled version of libmkv, make sure the line is changed in the txt file and recompile

its weird that its not in svn yet, i pmed saintdev and told him that the problem does in fact work this is what he sent me: (you need to compile your own hb binary) Ok, all you need to do is replace the contents of <HBDIR>/contrib/version_libmkv.txt with: http://saintdevelopment.com/handbrake/contri...

is it a two pass encode?

ive noticed that when i do a two pass encode, it does the first pass, and during this no new file is created, but during the second pass, it starts writing to the file where you specified.

saintdev gave me a newer version of libmkv to test out and i just ripped LOTR 2, and the resulting file was 2.6 gb and it encoded successfully without dumping core, so i guess once he commits the changes to svn, it will all be fixed ;)

It appears to be already fixed, and will go into svn soon

from saintdev:
. I'm pretty sure I already found this and fixed it in my local repo.

the advanced x264 gui is there, but the advanced options dont appear to be passed along to the CLI command so therefore it doesnt work (as stated above) and i personally use the DSQ preset (its like deus six quatre) or whatever, and it works pretty well. the command line equivilant of it is: [quote]...

So in my first post in this thread I told all of you that saintdev would be the one to rule out any libmkv-specific problems, since it's his library. How come none of you have bothered to get in touch with him, is this bug is so important to you? because at least i didn't know that A: this was a mk...

well the rip is done, problem is the resulting file is 1.1 gb, not even close to the 2 gb mark...which is interesting.

maybe you forgot some flags on your command.

I just tried it with teh Dues Quad Ex or whatever preset.

Well maybe its just this movie im encoding, tell me the exact settings that you used to rip happy feet (as in the command line argument) as I have the movie as well, and ill see if i can rip it without it dumping core.
