Re: BD PGS Subtitles

That would be great, John - I know there are many of us who could really use this capability.

Re: Best Quality Video to play in iPad2 !

Why are you going on about this? You already said you only want to play it on your iPad2 -- it's been clearly stated the iPad preset is best for this. What's the problem? Don't you believe the folks telling you? You're making this WAY too complicated -- if you bought the iPad (and drank the Apple Ko...

Re: BD PGS Subtitles

If mkvmerge won't mux PGS files in I have no idea why you'd want to do it (I don't know that *many* players support such things -- most do not).

Re: BD PGS Subtitles

Use TSMuxer to demux the PGS track(s), use BDSup2Sub to convert to IDX, and mux back in with mkvmerge (all Windows -- I don't know nuthin' about Macs).

(There's really no need for any more explanation).

Ah, thanks, that explains it.

(I'm still getting used to this iPad thingee -- it's very cool, though).

Why does the iPad preset use 29.97FPS?

Um question says it all, I guess. I'm new to the iPad, but when I bring up the preset (latest nightly) it sets the FPS to 29.97 rather than "Same as Source" (which I'm used to from nearly all the other presets). I assume this has something to do with how the iPad works, but could anyone he...

Re: Audio sync in nightly versus .9.5

Yipes -- sorry I missed this one (I do try and read ALL the threads but life got busy for me the last month or so).

I'll download the nightly and give it a shot (I've been busy with other things but there is a break in the blu-rays I'll be doing now, so I can take the time to test).

Re: iPad2 Best Practice?

No, I know Rodeo. I had been using the nightlies until I got bit by a bug or two and had to fall back to get things working again. Things have slowed down, buying wise (I have now spent all the money I would have spent on more blu rays in buying this iPad thingee, for at least the immediate future) ...

iPad2 Best Practice?

Folks, After Handbraking for years for mostly WD players I finally got an iPad2. As every thing I've ever encoded was MKV this is a learning experience for me. I did a forum search, but no specifics about the iPad2 showed up (but perhaps just the regular iPad would be sufficient -- I'm a virgin in a...

Re: BD PGS Subtitles

And in the meantime you CAN use Handbrake and mux the PGS subs in yourself (which I've been doing for going on two years now). My WDLive units have always played the resultant file just fine.

Re: What settings / presets do you use?

You're still missing the point -- the point isn't what the file size it, it's what quality you find acceptable. If the file is 5GB but not an acceptable quality it is too small regardless. The size of any file will vary widely depending on the content. In the blu-ray realm (the only one I do nowaday...

Since Heinlein invented it, it's no wonder (any of the Smith/Lazurus canon books will mention it, which after "Number" is nearly all of his work :>)

Re: Audio only rip and subtitle support for BD

You're talking about forced subs, right? Since nearly ALL movies have subs.

The best way to determine this is to use this site:

http://experts.windows.com/frms/windows ... 56580.aspx

I've helped out with the list from time to time.

I had no issues using AnyDVD HD (for the blu-ray version).

There is a 30 day free trial (not crippled in any way other than time limitation).

Re: Audio stops at 2:01 for SOME users

Offhand I'd say try setting the FPS to some fixed rate (whatever is suitable). There are some players that have issues with the way Handbrake encodes the rates when left as "Same as Source".

Re: Some feature requests...

Yeah, that's what I thought. That's why being able to filter by length would be useful (I often check the length on the blu-ray cover and compare it to the titles shown).

Re: Some feature requests...

because simply picking the longest as the default, as the current Handbrake does, isn't always the right selection. If your DVD or DVD rip still has a menu, and dvdnav is enabled, HandBrake will check the menu to try and find the proper title. It won't work 100%, but it's much more elaborate that j...

Re: Some feature requests...

Oh, I know there are issues and, quite frankly, I'd never use such a thing myself, but I do know that others are always trying to make the process as easy as possible and this would probably account for 90% of all the episodic discs out there. In any case, I would see this as only a filter -- it wou...

Re: AAC soundtrack is delayed

If you really need an MKV container you can take that M4V video and repackage it with mkvmerge (no video or audio conversion so it takes literally minutes and should play just fine for you). (Note that you will need to rename the file extension mp4 -- at least in my version of mkvmerge that is true ...

Re: Some feature requests...

Sorry for jumping in here because you developers are FAR more clever than I am, but what immediately occurs to me is some sort of "length" variable that could filter out things depending on what the user wants. If I'm doing a TV show, all I want are titles 22 minutes or greater (although p...

And that doesn't always work -- I'd force it to whatever FPS your source is to see if it solves your problem.

Re: Handbrake has detected unfinished items... for all etern

It's not a first -- I have lots of programs with different versions on the same computer (rule of thumb with production work is to NEVER upgrade until you're sure a version is stable enough). I had at least two versions of Handbrake running on one computer for quite some time but truth be told I hav...

Re: Handbrake has detected unfinished items... for all etern

But, just to play devil's advocate here for a minute, I've gone back to using the "official" release because I've gotten burned using the nightlies. Specifically, I've encoded some files that the nightlies had issues with that the official release did not, and because of my workflow (encod...
