Re: Building/buying a handbrake computer

Something I've been looking at, was the number of threads supported per core on the Intel CPUs. Then I read something about not having more than a certain number of threads running per core for an encode, as the higher the ratio of threads to cores, the lower the quality will be on the encode. I hav...

Re: AppleTV Custom Presets - 0.9.4

I saw mention of the improved settings at XLR8YOURMAC and gave them a try on my Win7 brick, here is my post from 123Macmini about what came of it - I gave it a try with a scene from The Wrath Of Khan. I used chapter 3 cell 4, which is just a bit over two minutes. The reason I like to use this bit is...

Picture Settings and 0.9.4

So I built a new system to replace my aging P4 ripping station. Now I'm using Win7 Pro 32 bit, on a Core i5 660/Asus P7H55-M PRO. I just set it up about two weeks ago, and now I would like to do my transcoding on it, since it's obviously a bit faster than my Mac mini 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo OS X 10.5.8....

Re: 2 disc move to one file

I haven't played around much with the new Handbrake, but there is this thread about combining the files from the two discs and then running HB on that.

Re: Advice please on importing dvds

Handbrake no longer encodes directly from a protected DVD. You would need to have VLC installed to use it's parts for encoding basic DVD protection. If you are serious about doing bunchs and bunchs of DVDs then you should consider, for Windows, DVD Fab, or AnyDVD, or for OS X, RipIt, or Fairmount(no...

Re: Converting HD MKV

That bit rate is way too low for HD. I use 1500 for regular DVDs and sometimes it's not good. For HD, you would want something closer to 8000.

Re: Multiple DVD to single TS to get over the 9GB limit(SOLVED?)

Still looking for a tool to join video files, and found that D-Vision also combines VOBs.

Won't have a chance to test till I get to Das Boot, but here you go.

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

I don't have a PS3, but I heard about a program called Swiss Army Knife, for PS3 Linux, that lets you copy the BluRay discs.

I have no iDea of how it works, but maybe you can give that a try.

It's also .net based, is it not? Otherwise, I just get frustrated after making a typo, and not knowing what was wrong to get some windows doesn't understand something error. And... I forgot to set the big file flag! I'll get it fired up again shortly, and run it again. Finally to answer my ow...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

Success! Well maybe... I have Swordfish sitting on my peecee so I gave it another try. I kept having problems with using eac3to directly from the CLI, so I tried a few GUIs. The first one I tried was Clown. Didn't get too far with that one. Actually didn't get anywhere with it. Then I tried the main...

That's why I said I would rather pass it though, and not that I do. But thank you for reminding me.

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

I would rather just pass the DTS though like I do with the AC3.

Ok, I'm not sure about one thing. Can I do this with 0.9.3, or do I need to compile a newer version?

Thanks!

No. There is also DVD Fab HD. I don't know how quickly it is updated to deal with new protection schemes though.

Re: Multiple DVD to single TS to get over the 9GB limit(SOLVED?)

How about ripping the discs separately, and then demuxing the .m4v so that you get two .264 files which you can cat, along with your audio tracks. After this, you can then remux the new cat'ed files back into the container using something (mp4box CLI maybe?). Header information inside the .264s may...

When I tried it, it only let me keep one audio track, and I wanted all four of the audio tracks in the project I had.

Re: Multiple DVD to single TS to get over the 9GB limit(SOLVED?)

You can. But QT Pro didn't work for me on something that was pretty simple, so I don't want to trust it to something big. I was going to use Virtual Dub, on the peecee, since I have heard how awesome it is, but it would seem that it only puts out avi files. Since I rip to m4v, that would cramp my st...

Re: Multiple DVD to single TS to get over the 9GB limit(SOLVED?)

I might have found something that might work for combining the output of two discs. I can't test it right now, as the Intel mini has a queue that will keep it ripping well into the evening (it's 0200 now), and the G4 mini is working on something that has the CPU full out. http://www.3am.pair.com/QTC...

Looks like a giant final VOB doesn't work(for me at least), so it looks like a super giant VOB and send that direct to HB.

Re: Multiple DVD to single TS to get over the 9GB limit(SOLVED?)

I could have sworn I posted something earlier... Anyway, after a bit of brainstorming I thought about cat 'ing the rips that I already had from the two DVDs. Sadly it didn't work. The combined file had the size of both files, but only played the first disc rip. Also, it showed as having double the n...
