Patch updated

The patch has been updated for SVN Rev 591 (notably maurj's DTS changes). I'm interested in anyone who has a Windows development system in giving my patch a try (note you'll need to update the makefiles etc. to add libhb/stream.c - no other changes should be neccessary). I'm working on getting my li...

The fix has just been committed to SVN - so whenever the next release ships it should be included.

I've posted an updated (near final) patch to my website : http://awkward.org/handbrake/mpeg2-ts-patch.tar.gz There's one bug still in this patch - Transport Streams with anything other than AC-3/A.52 audio won't work correctly (you'll get silence) - unfortunately I don't have much test media to work...

I only started reading through the Automator documentation yesterday, so maybe I just don't understand what makes this process difficult yet. I think what makes this tricky with Automator is that if you write an action in Shell Script you can't provide much feedback to the Automator application abo...

I really don't know why you'd *want* to control the gui app with Automator. Isn't the whole point of Automating something to *not* have to deal with the UI? If you aren't going to be looking at preview images, and you're not going to be changing settings on whims, there's no reason to use the GUI. ...

I have some personal interest in doing this - I think that for many people right now the the Command Line version coupled with a bit of applescripting probably meets many peoples needs.

Automator support would be more friendly and 'Mac Like' though.

The patch correctly reads in VOB files, either named .vob or .mpg, but it doesn't seem to work with SVCD .mpg files. I'm interested in that as I've got a considerable archive of SVCDs. I took a little look at this tonight. Unfortunately it doesn't look good :( The problem is that SVCD MPEG Elementa...

The 24bit sample size is quite likely a source of a problem - a lot of the code I've looked at has been a little bit '16 bit centric'. Like you I don't have any 24 bit DVD's to test with (though I guess I could manufacture one with time). If someone can post a list of known DVD's (and the associated...

Not very no - so my line of reasoning seems to have reached a dead-end. Thanks for the extra details, I'll keep looking into this - hopefully we'll have it all worked out for the next release.

Re: White noise on audio tracks

If I change Track 1 to "none" then I get nothing - no white noise, but also no sound whatsoever. I'm not a developer so I don't know anything about patches or even what SVN is. I'm just a regular user who is frustrated that what is normally a simple process is now not working for me. I'm ...

Re: White noise on audio tracks

I am experiencing the same thing that Fritzjung talked about here. I'm trying to rip my Neil Young - Massey Hall 1971 DVD and I'm getting nothing but white noise on the audio tracks. The bonus features rip fine without any audio troubles, but the main concert section appears to be copy-protected wi...

I'm afraid I don't see anything obvious in the code at the area where you crashed. I did however notice something in the crash reports itself which makes me nervous. You mentioned uninstalling APE etc. however you still have two items left in the Crash Log : 0x1000 - 0x3fffff org.m0k.handbrake 0.8.5...

The DVD-Rs I made myself with my DVD recorder. Language 1 is Unknown AC3. The version of Handbrake I'm using is 0.7.1. In that case it's pretty much 'something else' The version you're using predates the changes that broke MPEG-Audio, and it doesn't seem like you're using MPEG-Audio anyway. It's sl...

Re: HandBrake 0.8.5b1 crashes

Awk, Thanks for the speedy feedback. I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong topic. As I said, the logs don't mean much to me. I'd been using HB since v.51 with never a problem until now, and the only change was the Airfoil product I installed a few days ago. No problem - my comment is more for an...

Are the DVD-R's material you've made yourself ? If so it's quite likely that they have MPEG-Audio soundtracks rather than AC-3. What does the popup in the audio tab for the audio track choices say ? It will have AC-3 or MPEG depending on the type of audio encoding used. The current handbrake beta re...

This is *NOT* the same crash as the original author

This looks quite different from the crash the original poster reported. Looking at your crash I'm suspicious of something in the DVD Parsing routines. I know you said you tried several DVD's and they all crashed. Is there anything 'unusual' about all of them ? Are they all foreign releases or perhap...

There's a patch at http://awkward.org/handbrake/mpeg2-audio-patch.txt that should fix these problems. It's definately the lack of calls to the new parsing mechanisms. I took a little time last night to add the calls and I don't get the 'missing skipping' messages any more however the timestamps are 'out of whack' causing the sync code to insert silence. It should only take a little more time to fix ...

A 'work in progress' update : It looks like the avcodec_decode_audio method (or specifically the MP2 decoder) now expects 'packet' size chunks of data - for a typical MPEG Layer 2 audio at 256kbps, 48KHz Sample Rate thats about 1152 bytes per chunk. However we pass approx 2012 bytes of data to the f...

ffmpeg/libavcoded changed

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon looking at this - I think problem is a changed made in ffmpeg towards the end of 2006 where they 'removed' (or altered in some way) the parsing mechanisms. It looks like the avcodec_decode_audio() call would do a certain amount of stream parsing/preparation b...
