This movie has zero cells, thus you must rip it to your hard drive first. If you are having problems with MTR, please visit that forum. MTR 14d beta has no problems with this DVD in Full Disc Extraction mode. If you don't have the beta, then do the following in MTR 2.6.6 and DVD2oneX. 1. Disable 'Fi...

You need to post your exact settings, then we might be able to help you. For example... Source->Deja Vu (ripped to hard drive) (~130 min) FPS->23.976 Codec->x...

HandBrakeCLI is generally a bit faster than the GUI. My Sig. includes a G5 Optimized HandBrakeCLI along with the GUI version. Interesting, I'll check it out - thanks. And I should add more detail to my earlier comment. I glossed over the poster's settings who said it took him 24 hours to encode. I ...

I bought two Lacie 1.28 TB hard drives. One is a backup and I keep in a fire proof safe. Each one cost me $500. Unfortunately, I am running out of space and don't know what to do now. The cost of RAID is too much. I think I will buy a 2+ TB hard drive and then use the two 1.28 TB as back ups. The Ap...

Re: movie unaffected by HB for ratio change.

I've been trying to rip some movies using HB, and some movies just won't change in aspect ratio, so they'll have black bars on the sides and are 4:3, instead of changing to 16:9 or something close so that I can see them on my Macbook with the black bars above and below the movie. I've ripped plenty...

I have been having problems as well. I have been ripping tons of movies using visual hub's "Go Nuts" setting, which is usually around 4000kbps and have seen great results. But after seeing HB's support for anamorphic and chapters I had to give it a try. So I encoded 4 different movies usi...

It sounds like you did the test on the computer and not the AppleTV. I tried everything from rebooting to isolating the type of software used. The current software I use are Mac the ripper and Handbrake. I did a direct copy from Handbrake and the 1 pass seemed to be ok but 2 pass had the same issue...

A lot of people use it for Apple compatibility. I don't know what to say about your comparison, except that I cannot really see a difference between MPEG4 codecs (with >1500 kbs) on a computer screen. But once put on my HDTV, I do begin to see differences. I think it is a known fact that x264 is one...

Speed Benchmarks for x264 Options

Using the HB iPod and Apple TV presets I noticed an increase in encoding time by a factor of 2.0-2.5! I wanted to know which options were responsible for this increase, so I decided to do some testing. I hope others will do similar tests and post them as well. Handbrake version: 0.8.5 b1 CPU: a team...

Trellis, no-dct-decimate, & 2-pass

I was reading on the web about the options used in the HB Apple TV preset and read that some think Trellis should only be used with 2-pass and should not be used with no-dct-decimate.

Do the HB devs agree with this?

Unfortunatly, for 2 channel tracks, that is as high as it goes or has ever gone. Bitrate settings above 160 in earlier releases of Handbrake were an illusion. If you set it to 256 you still got 160.

Instead of distributing copyrighted material perhaps someone owns one of those discs and they can try it for you. Also read the stickies at the top of the support forum for ways to fix your audio issues.

Sorry, I'm a newbie too and I don't understand what your post means. "lower bitrates/less disk usage" in particular and "max 1500 for iPod". I am asking a dumb question, I know but I'm new to IPOD and new to Handbrake. I've just downloaded it, and I don't even know what to do wi...

Yeah, I wondered if iTunes chooses to store information like that in the file if it's had certain tags inserted already? I thought it was that as well, but an un-Lostified file will still have its artwork embedded, it just gets applied faster. Maybe if the file already has tags, iTunes has to re-co...

I dont think that the CLI solves the issues we have. It improves the situation though. I tried encoding Mr & Mrs Smith and Hart's War but audio drops. I still have to find a way to encode both films... Frankly, until a better ripper comes out. Some dvds just arent going to happen imho. And some...

Yeah, the scripts are easy and fast, and I guess you could pull the data out of the library database if you could find it. Perhaps Doug will make a script for that someday. Lostify also adds MPAA ratings to your files. I think eventually AppleTV will have some parental controls and will read that ta...
