Nope. Same result. Test only on SL.
EDIT: Track did show DTS-HD (ch 7.0), but no Passthru codec

Re: Bluray Ripping & Encoding (A Total Mac Solution)
So the 1920x832 is the proper output? In the tutorial the output is the same as the source. It has to do with the Reference Frames....<waiting for super-advance multi-combo flames from Rodeo>..... J/K! All movies aren't created equal. Think of it like this, in simple terms, HB crops the "black...

Re: Bluray Ripping & Encoding (A Total Mac Solution)
If it theoretically supports a certain level but is too weak to actually support it fully, then you may have to use even less refs than allowed by the level. Again, the settings used to encode the source are completely irrelevant, it's the capabilities of the playback device (in your case, the VDAD...

Re: Bluray Ripping & Encoding (A Total Mac Solution)
WTF? Refs and bframes should be set according to the limits of your playback device and the encoding speed you want, nothing to do with the source file. So maybe you missed the part about what I do can be different than what you do. Playback device doesn't play into this (no pun intended). Ref Fram...

**Updated** Bluray Ripping & Encoding (A Total Mac Solution)
Since I have some time on my hands while stuck in the house waiting out the North Texas ice storms. So I have been getting some private messages and inquiries here and there, to create a Bluray ripping and encoding guide (Mac only solution). While I believe that, by now, this should be common sense,...

Re: How To: Rip, Encode and Combine Using Fairmount & DTOX
I've searched this site for a solution to ripping Rush Hour 3 and have tried several of the recommendations, DTOX, Fairmount, MacTheRipper, etc., none of these have worked for me and I can't figure out what to do next. I've followed the processes for implementing Fairmount, then DTOX, etc. but Fair...

Re: AppleTV Advanced Settings (Post PsyRDO)
Turn off "Large File Size" Unless you're planning on playing those same files on some other device that doesn't accept files larger than 4GB (or can't read 64-bit files), I would leave that on. Just in the off-chance that you encode a really long/big movie that ends up being bigger than 4...

Re: All the files from DVD aren't converting to mp4v files
Well, if you bother reading the documentation or searched the forum, you would know that all you had to do was change the extension. Then if you bother reading the Red Box at the top of the page, you would know to provide an Activity Log.

I've been writing directly to an USB 2.0 external for a year now. So this isn't an issue.
...and HB isn't going to write now where near that fast to a HD regardless of internal or external.
