...to make some progress on this, maybe you could provide short, working and not-working samples that can be analysed for differences... can you upload a file sample that will not play for you? I'll be glad to confirm on my WDTVLive v1 Here are a couple of samples for testing on a WDTV or other sim...
Re: Subtitle
Definitely not happening for me in 0.10.3, however this may depend on your source. Are your subs directly from the DVD or Blu-ray? Or are you using some other source? No logs, clearly he's not serious about a problem. I rip discs with MakeMKV. ...and what format do your subs end up as after ripping...

I never bothered to use it much as anytime I did always seemed to encounter one problem or another no matter what system it was.mduell wrote:Obvious solution: Remove OpenCL support from HB since it isn't very useful anyway. :p

Re: Subtitle
As a semi-related issue, I have noticed that in 10.3 and up into the nightlies have been burning-in source subtitles even if there is no subtitle track added via the subtitle tab. I doubt that this is really the case as lots of people would notice. Definitely not happening for me in 0.10.3, however...

Re: Default Audio Codec
Your explanation is just how I'd expect it to work based on the UI. Problem is, it doesn't actually work. Track items are generated, but they are not set to auto-passthru automatically. Seems to work fine in vidcoder. How it was described was also how I would have expected it to work based on a lot...

Looking at your source size (4.5gb) - was this a DVD or some kind of HD source?
In x265 what is a good RF setting to try and keep the a watchable quality of this source but still with some compression?

Are you encoding these from the original DVD source?
Are you sure that whoever encoded the "Desired denoise result" screenshot did not take them from the Blu-Ray version?

Re: Change in memory (RAM) handling in Handbrake 0.10.3?
Encode logs might indicate the cause of the issue. Without logs, we are just guessing, but most of the time, a failure to allocate memory would just result in HandBrake crashing. Memory allocations are often not checked for failure unfortunately. Yeah, just thought I would ask in case something had...

May make more sense to put the DVD discs directly on your fastest Hard Disk first, then have Handbrake ...

Changed relative to what version? The 0.10.x series probably share the same memory allocation code. Changed relative to 0.10.2 Logs on the failures, though, would provide some clues. Just because you know something is wrong doesn't mean we can guess what it is... ;) Yeah I know, I wasn't thinking a...

Re: Handbrake 0.10.3 Windows - FDK AAC (HE-AAC) 5.1 Audio compatibility problem
Under Handbrake's old method of encoding (HandbrakeCLI?) where Video and Audio were first encoded separately, then muxed, the fix I think would have been relatively easy however I don't know the workflow of LibHB or quite how it works in comparison so not quite sure how it can be implemented? Re: Handbrake 0.10.3 Windows - FDK AAC (HE-AAC) 5.1 Audio compatibility problem
Since none of the developers has a wdtv, it is highly unlikely it will be fixed. These kind of problems require a lot of time and trial-n-error fiddling to figure out. And once the problem is located, there's about a 50% chance we won't want to "fix" it anyway because the "fix" ...

Can you confirm what the issue was here? Why did this occur?
I have noticed this problem in a previous encode some time ago on an older version but did not look into it any more.

FYI, I also fixed the compiler optimization issue in our 0.10.x bug fix branch. So our next bug fix release will have faster fdk-aac. It will still be 0.1.1, but it will be faster. Has this gone backwards in 0.10.3? Tested encoding something earlier using CBR FDK-AAC and with using multiple audio s...

Re: [Rejected] Show files size
It is possible to show estimated size by a margin of 20% to 30% mathematically as programming is math. You could have fields for target size and/or estimated output size and estimated percent quality loss/gain. Also have a reassess/refresh button and field as settings for compression and quality ar...
