Re: Handbrake 0.10.1 Windows - Improve encoding time using FDK-AAC audio (including comparisons)

For this particular issue we know that FDK-AAC is at least working, but is not working as optimally as it potentially could. Sure we can write FDK-AAC off as 'the bottleneck' that is slowing the encodes, but I know it can go faster and thats why I am trying to help figure it out, to improve Handbrak...

Re: Handbrake 0.10.1 Windows - Extend/wider Audio (Source) option

I notice in the Timeline there are quite a lot of "minor GUI adjustments" being made to the WinGUI right now.

Please can you also implement this one as it is also minor.

I have included a screenshot for the above to further explain what I mean.

Re: Video is only 30 min of 1:57

Disc error was also my first reaction. Depending on how good the drive is, even a small, hardly visible scratch can slow down or entirely stall your encode. Depending on how the drive firmware is configured, it will sometimes attempt a re-read, but eventually give up and move on to the next readable...

Re: AC3 Bug

I have encountered this previously also, although it is usually on older items - such as DVDs from many years ago, or rips that I have made using older software going back a few years. It would be interesting to know, when you used DVDFab did it re-encode the audio, or purely copy it across? For me,...

Handbrake 0.10.1 Windows - Improve encoding time using FDK-AAC audio (including comparisons)

So this is very much a known issue, the FDK-AAC codec appears to be quite slow on encodes that would otherwise be reasonably fast. Due to the circumstances of encoding quite a number of items with libavcodec and discovering the sound is atrocious, I find myself in the position of having to re-encode...

Re: Maximum picture size - after (automatic) cropping?

718 is not divisible by 4, so it would be rounded up to the nearest number divisible by 4 which is 720. So using anamorphic "None" and modulus 4 works for these particular dimensions. But would not work if a little more were cropped from left/right. If a little more were cropped, the &quo...

Re: Maximum picture size - after (automatic) cropping?

...what you want can be accomplished with "Custom" anamorphic. Setting anamorphic to "Custom", max width to 720 and max height to 404 will cause it to adjust the output pixel aspect so that the width and height can be exactly 720x404 while still preserving the display aspect . N...

Re: Convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK) using Windows Command Line?

the autobuild grabs the latest source/version(? something) from github, whereas handbrake's FDK is probably quite old in comparison as i never noticed any FDK update in the timeline :P May have to feature request this! I wonder what date the FDK in Handbrake is? i think FDK accepts up to 7.1? :? i ...

Handbrake 0.10.1 Windows - Remove AAC (libavcodec)

Handbrake 0.10.1 Windows As title suggests, remove the AAC (libavcodec) entirely. Having had reasonable experience in listening to AAC but no worthwhile experience in encoding with it, I opted for AAC (libavcodec) for a number of encodes as it is supposed to be the most widely compatible. Little did...

Re: Convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK) using Windows Command Line?

You can't run HB CLI with audio only, but you could choose very fast/low quality video settings and then demux the audio streams from the output. I tried this also. Picked the worst settings I could think of including using CRF 51 (the lowest possible) but the encode time was not much different tha...

Re: Convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK) using Windows Command Line?

changelog says they can't include fdk due to its license... you'll have to build the .exe and point MeGUI... if you don't know how(like me), nu774 created an autobuild script I did actually find that but thought based on the date it must be using a really old version? Does this version include the ...

Convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK) using Windows Command Line or GUI?

Windows 7 Is there a tool that can convert AC3 and DTS to HE-AAC (FDK)? The latest version of MeGUI (2525) suggest that it supports this, but when you fire it up, FDK is nowhere to be found. Alternatively, is it possible to run HE fdk-aac in a command line interface to encode only audio and if so, a...

[Rejected] Handbrake 0.10.1 - Visual Warning on Queue if Job had problems

I am seeing some encodes come back with a message in the logs, something like: "sync: audio 0x1 time went backwards X ms, dropped Y frames (start 00000000, next 1111111)" e.g. sync: audio 0x1 time went backwards 15 ms, dropped 1 frames (start 264219390, next 264220800) In the queue we can ...

Re: HB 0.10.1 - Allow compilation of GUI test environment without need for libhb

...just put the dll in from a nightly build. Job done. The gui loads the library in at runtime. You still need to compile the libhb dll on linux If you want to make changes to it. That will not change. To check something mentioned on the Handbrake Development page: "Core Library - LibHB (C), M...

Potentially, but confirming the expected behavior is the beginning.

Maximum picture size - after (automatic) cropping?

Handbrake 0.10.1 Windows I'm not sure if this is a Bug or Feature Request, but I'll go with Bug initially. Handbrake 0.10.1 Windows - Queue - Get Focus of Current item

Best way I can describe this... When items are being encoded, is it possible that Handbrake can "GetFocus" of the current item being encoded? That is, that the queue would move on (and move the currently encoding item) visibly towards the top of the current queue window? (Of course that ap...

Re: HB 0.10.1 - Allow compilation of GUI test environment without need for libhb

The gui just won't work without libHB.dll. A fair bit of the logic the gui uses is in that C library. It'll compile ok, it'll just crash on startup when it tries to call into it. So, just put the dll in from a nightly build. Job done. Note the vesion of the checked out code had to match the dll ver...

Re: HB 0.10.1 - Allow compilation of GUI test environment without need for libhb

How is that ever going to work when the GUI fundamentally requires interaction with libhb? To quote your original answer mduell - "The GUI depends on the CLI to run the encode . But you can make changes to the GUI and compile it separately ... The encode will still work, you just won't be able...

[Invalid] HB 0.10.1 - Allow compilation of GUI test environment without need for libhb

Taken from/relating to another post: https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=32295#p149990 where a comment stated "The gui also has a dependency on LibHB so you won't get far trying to run the gui without that." It would be useful for a Windows user to be able to compile the GU...
