Re: Distributed/Parallel x264 encoding?
fwiw, current nightlies support multiple instances off of the same queue on *the same computer* ... next would be to get paths and pids via bonjour or the like to make it work across a lan. No guarantees. Just an fyi.

Though indeed this is about a device, it has nothing to do with HandBrake in and of itself. Moved to more appropriate Tiki Bar.

Moved to appropriate Devices forum.
Afaik the PS3 and Xbox do not support all iTunes metadata. Though folks with those devices would have to chime in.

Re: Target Size x264 settings?
Just for my own clarification, if I set the Advanced Options to High Profile and set a Target Size of 4400MB, Handbrake will use the Advanced options I set and decide what bitrate is needed to meet the file size requirement, correct? And conversely, if I use the same Advanced Options and set Consta...

configure: error: You must have freetype installed; see http://www.freetype.org/ Did you reproduce this on a clean checkout? (Or 'make xclean'?) If so, then there may be an undeclared dependency issue: Try the following commands individually (in order). Does the error appear on any one of them (and...

Re: Target Size x264 settings?
If that's the case, then I guess I'm confused. How can it stick to a target file size if I tell it to used high profile settings? Does it override those higher profile settings to maintain a give file size? I think your getting confused by the concept of constant quality. In Target Size mode HB wil...

Re: 3.33GHz 6-Core or Two 2.4GHz 8-core New “Westmere” Mac P
Just curious though under what kind of conditions would the 8 core out run the 6 core anyway excluding the ram issue? Using a nightly with two instances or more of HB you would probably get an aggregate increase in speed on average with several encodes queued up due to the fact that you would soak ...

Is not going to happen in HB. Beyond that your on your own. Presumably these files you download are free from copyright. Beyond that you are on thin ice. Consider this a warning.

Re: Blu Ray, AppleTV, DTS, 5.1 Sound
So how do I get this DTS 5.1 sound as pass through encoded and played correctly by my AppleTV? Do I need to extract the DTS audio streams, encode it as ac3 then mix the whole thing together again? Or is there an easier... Solution: ???? Thanks for your help! DTS passthrough is not supported in an m...

Re: max 960x540 HD resolution for AppleTV
If you just select the AppleTV preset and hit Go, then your output will be constrained to 960x540. I think it's just a safety measure, since there's no way, yet, to have a preset that conditionally sets the dimensions based on the frame rate. But there's nothing to stop you from manually altering t...

Re: DTS in an M4V container, ever?
You know, I still can't get my head around what would be the reason for DTS getting Apple to go to the trouble of including the spec in the format and then not bothering to release their own methodology to get it to work? Are they retards or something? In the end this is really a question for Apple...

Re: [Rejected] Presets for Target Size
Perhaps your next car won't have a brake, because "I" don't use one, it's bad practice and wasteful of energy. Or your next computer won't have programs that "I" find unnecessary because "I" don't use them. Well, I suppose if "you" made the car and gave it to...

Re: DTS in an M4V container, ever?
Is there anyway to fool the player into thinking it's sending a Dolby Digital bitstream to the amp, but in fact it's actually a DTS track? I've still got about half my DVDs to rip with DTS, but I'm going to wait until either DTS-in-mp4 becomes practical or the AppleTV starts being able to playback ...

Re: [Rejected] Presets for Target Size
BTW I should also add that only from 3GS/3G onwards have the iDevices supported which are only a year old. In the end its all ancilliary, it will be what it will be. No there won't be a built in preset for target size. Yes, all ui's let you create all of the custom presets you want. Done deal. Fwiw...
