import/export chapter timestamps
this would be a really neat feature in combination with third party software that is used for cutting according to your wiki https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/ChapterMarkers the current file format only supports chapter names I would be very glad if you could enhance this by allowing to add timestamps ...

svn6978 bug (tune film let's encode fail)
it crashes if I set the x264 tune to film using svn6978 (6980 isn't available, yet it seems) under Win7 32bit (but that is also in the log below) HandBrake svn6978 (Nightly Build) - 32bit Version OS: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 - 32bit CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GH...

What do you think about supporting an additional HEVC encoder?
https://github.com/strukturag/libde265
it seems to be quite fast and it's licensed with LGPL and GPL

Re: Keep 16/9 cropping ratio
well, that will probably work, haven't looked into it much
I don't need this feature in particular anyway, since I use autocrop in Handbrake (so that the player can decide how to show it)
I just wanted to say that it might make sense for some people, but in the end it's up to the devs

Re: Keep 16/9 cropping ratio
First you can save space by cropping during encode
Second even in VLC it's not easy to tell him to crop to 16:9 so that you get full width not only in full screen mode but also in windowed mode

Re: Website encryption
CRIME vulnerability was just something I noticed along the lines
it's nice to hear, that you are going to upgrade you OS and use TLS 1.2 then

Website encryption
What do you think about upgrading your webserver/this forum to TLS 1.2?
At the moment only TLS 1.0 is supported and according to ssllabs.com your website is even vulnerable to CRIME
Maybe someone could take care of that

Is this code working already? :
http://ffmpeg.org/doxygen/trunk/nvenc_8c_source.html
Or are they still working on it?
(didn't find anything about the status)

Re: Keep 16/9 cropping ratio
I guess what mduell wanted to say is: there are several ways and there is no real "default" way and some people might expect different results
though I think the "optimal" way described above is probably the most common case

Re: add 10bit
My guess at what you were trying to say above:
"Are there any news on 10 bit encoding? I think, there's something new about x265."
I don't know about any news, but maybe other people here will understand you now

Re: [Invalid] Automatic Deinterlace
@tom34 decomb does what you want and if you used deinterlacing on a progressive movie and didn't see a difference then either the resolution of the video was pretty high (so that it was harder to see) or it wasn't the kind of video where it gets obvious (dunno) http://www.100fps.com/video_resolution...

Re: Keep 16/9 cropping ratio
I guess he wants the "optimal" way -> no stretching, simply cutting the width or height, depending on what is too big to achieve 16:9 ratio

Re: NVidia NVENC Support
I know, but according to some comments on here only Quicksync has a profile where it is faster with a comparable Quality (comparable to handbrake itself), all other encoders are faster in general but offer less quality overall

Re: NVidia NVENC Support
The thing is: the quicksync code was committed by Intel and others. The devs around here don't have much motivation to add further hw encoders because it's time consuming and doesn't make the encode faster/better for most people (Quicksync provides the best encoder so far, according to what i read h...

Re: Is VDPAU supported in HandBrake?
I have no clue whether the bicubic scaler is available on Linux but what I know is that you cannot use OpenCL for everything because encoding is too complex one thing that you can do for example are scalers but first: it only changes something if you scale your movie second: the lanczos scaler (whic...

I hope I'm not wrong, but isn't this like DVXA (Win), which Handbrake supports already?

Re: [Rejected] The CPU usage
are you talking about battery life or what?
if so: why would you want to encode a movie on battery, and: using the full cpu will probably save power in general (over the course of the whole transcoding)

Re: Large Screen Mode GUI
I don't think that he asked for a totally cluttered UI
but I have seen monitors that have a higher resolution than Full HD
everything is pretty small
so Handbrake could either show more or adjust to the dpi level (maybe it does the later already, I'm not sure, since I don't own such a monitor myself)

Where do you get Movies/Recordings with such high framerates from?
Do you own an 144 Hz monitor?
