Re: Dolby Vision Settings
I don't think libbluray reads the necessary metadata yet, so the only option is to convert it to mkv using MakeMKV at the moment before opening it in HandBrake.

Files are saved to the destination that was set when you added them to the queue.

Re: When a file is read in, the original name is ignored and a thumbnail is used instead
I guess the actual recording is in the .scc file, but it could be a proprietary format that HandBrake can't handle.

A .screenflow is a folder containing many files. I guess the actual video is inside the ScreenFlowDocument.dat file, but it seems HandBrake can't handle it.

Decomb EEDI2 is not multi-threaded in a significant way, and quite slow. Bwdif might give acceptable results at a much higher speed.

You should select the VIDEO_TS folder instead of the individual files.

Re: Mac Videotoolbox OpenCore systems not showing 10bit option
HandBrake asks the system which encoders VideoToolbox supports. VideoToolbox doesn't support 10-bit H.265 on AMD cards (even if the hardware supports it). On your iMac it's using the Intel hardware encoders instead of the AMD ones. The encoders are a dedicated piece of hardware, so it doesn't matter...

Re: New Mac Mini M2 Pro Settings
Check the preview and see if there are horizontal lines like on http://blog.dvfanatics.com/2014/06/interlaced-video-has-served-its-purpose.html But UHD is never interlaced, and HD Blu-rays very rarely, maybe if it's some old TV program, movies are not. 40 seems a bit low for VideoToolbox, try 45 or ...

Re: New Mac Mini M2 Pro Settings
I wouldn't worry about the temperature, it's not that high.
You can speed up things by disabling the comb detect and decomb filters, your sources are not interlaced. Setting the frame rate to "same as source" and variable will speed it up too.

Dolby Vision works in MKV too. A player that doesn't support it will just ignore the Dolby Vision metadata.

At the moment no. But DV data doesn't take much space, why do you want to discard it?

Re: Mac Mini M2 Pro performance
The M2 Pro has fewer cores, but higher IPC, and a much lower TDP. Maybe it would bit just a bit slower or faster? I don't know if there are any good benchmarks out there, I found one on https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/01 ... essionals/

The hardware decoders are supported only on macOS 13 and higher. The encoders should be available in the list in the Video panel.

This thread is about an issue the hardware decoders are enabled. If you aren't using hardware decoders, then it's a different issue. Please create a new thread and post the activity log or a way to reproduce the problem.

No, without a way to test this there is no way to know what's going on (without wasting a lot of time no one has at the moment).

Re: How to make the video use GPU instead of CPU during the encoding process?
Here's some way to reduce CPU usage: - Disable the comb detect and decomb filters if the source is not interlaced. - Switch the encoder to an hardware one (select the VideoToolbox ones), quality will probably be a bit worse, and on Intel Macs it's limited to average bitrate. - Update to macOS 13 and...

Re: Ver 1.7.1 Apple M1-Specific Issue w/ Certain Files (Choppy Video and decode errors)
The hardware decoders are supposed to fall back to software decoders when they can't decode a video, but we don't handle the cause in which they can't decode a single frame yet. It would be nice if you could upload a short sample (a few seconds) that I can use to reproduce the issue.

Re: HandBrake 1.7 Discussion Thread
x265 is a HEVC encoder (that supports Dolby Vision in HandBrake), VideoToolbox uses a different (hardware) HEVC encoder that can't be used to create a Dolby Vision video yet.
