yep truf, but if not specified i always assume mp4/m4v, just because of the nature of mac/HB/ipod/atv, and yes i do know its a bad assumption-default that's just how it clicks in my head.... though if you had 1 audio and no subs why would you put xvid in mkv

yep, still there http://www.flickr.com/photos/21778870@N07/2106880378/ as for the forced subs, i see how the movie works. i thought it was a master subs track with forced subs, but now i think it's 2 separate tracks (1 with full subs, one with the foreign parts in subs), neither is forced, but the d...

use the HB autocrop, then double-tap (double click) the movie while watching it on the iphone to toggle between "show full picture and scale image to fit screen" and "crop image to fit screen" oh and don't use anamorphic encoding (doesn't matter if source is anamorphic, i don't b...

please provide exact settings used. i don't do much xvid encoding with handbrake, i usually use autogk. for h264 nothing tops HB. what is the sync issue? try using a prerelease of HB as this fixed a LOT of sync issues and the build that came out today is based on the all-new (sorta) CLI. is it out o...

no i'm not talking about the speed of the decoder, i've used (and use) ffdshow for about EVERYTHING except h.264, it just doesnt do jack for me. have you tried coreavc? best $10 i ever spent

**i could be wrong about this***

the best solution i have tested is the coreavc package (coreavc.com). ffdshow skipped around on my h264 files, coreavc plays them VERY nicely. definitely depends on your computer speed

alright tested on many videos.
this issue IS indeed resolved in 1102 (eddyg changed on 10/23, 1102 CLI is from 10/30)

however, with this cli a new chapter freezing issue has popped up here:

you could build directories for each version as long as you have the gui.exe, cli.exe and dll, and create shortcuts to each version on your desktop

are you using auto crop/manual crop? try playing the movie in VLC and resizing it by hand. the goal is to notice if the black bars are hard coded into the movie (my guess is that they are and it's a cropping issue). if vlc plays this correctly without the side-black-bars ("columns") i'm go...

i would recommend ditching ac3 altogether. this may not sound like what you want, but it sounds like you are playing directly to your home theater system from an xp box. with ffdshow, it is possible to transcode 6ch AAC (which i would highly recommend over the now-outdated ac3) to AC3 for postproces...
