Re: Dolby Digital Plus Encoding (E-AC-3 / DD+)
We'll certainly be looking into this once Apple's new hardware is available and one of us chooses to acquire it. HandBrake can already encode DD+ for the MKV container, so this is mostly about muxing support in Libav and us getting the track arrangement correct in a new preset. Hopefully the new App...

Re: Show files size
HandBrake cannot know the final size of the file until it after it creates it.
Typically the file size becomes larger only when using unreasonable settings. Sometimes at high quality settings, noisy/grainy video can cause large file sizes; try one of the denoise filters.

The log looks okay to me. You don't need 8000 kbps:
Try 750 to 3000 kbps.
Is the video working fine now? Was there another question?
Code: Select all
[mpeg4 @ 0x103866800] [lavc rc] Using all of requested bitrate is not necessary for this video with these parameters.

Re: Best setting, when the player will be an ibook G4 / PPC-Mac?
Is MPEG-4 = ITU-T H.263 / MPEG-4 ASP Video: DivX, Xvid, Adobe Flash Is this what is called mp4 part 2, too? MPEG-4 in HandBrake is a standard implementation of MPEG-4 Part 2, which is based on H.263 and similar to the other formats you mention, which are MPEG-4 derivatives. In short: mostly yes, te...

Looks like you need the Decomb filter and Denoise (probably NLMeans) filter.

Thanks for the kind words, and you're welcome. I think we're both just trying to be clear. :) You'd be surprised by the wide range of uses people have shared with us. Re: h.265 in late 2015? Quality match h.264?
CRF is not equivalent between x264 and x265, so it's difficult to compare directly. Better to compare at similar underlying settings and final bitrate.

Re: Best setting, when the player will be an ibook G4 / PPC-Mac?
Moved to Mac Support forum. Please post an activity log.
MPEG-4 part 2 (MP4 in your last statement) is less CPU intensive and for HD should be used on machines slower than 2x2 GHz. Quality is of course lacking compared to h.264. You can still use h.264 video if you encode to a lower resolution.

Re: Can't get TV episodes in chapters all in same title
nhyone's analysis is correct and this appears to be bad mastering or a bad copy to disk. Essentially, the source is saying two different things at the same time.
While this is technically not a HandBrake bug, I imagine one of our other developers will be interested in taking a look.

Did you try the nightly build as I suggested? It's over a year newer than the 0.10.0 based releases.

@Woodstock I'm fairly certain this has to do with HandBrake's font renderer and the choices it makes.

Re: Can't get TV episodes in chapters all in same title
Could be bad mastering, could be a fake title, could be a bad copy to disk.
Try the latest nightly build and see if that helps: https://handbrake.fr/nightly.php
