Re: How to burn-in idx/sub subtitles?
... handbrake can't import idx/sub files... you have to use something like subtitle edit (or whatever your OS alternative is) to ocr it to srt, and then import the srt...

Re: some features i miss in this app
then there's the issue of having to have a lot of extra disk space solely for muxing purposes unless there's a new way to directly import subs into video files that i'm unaware of
but thankfully, i don't need ASS/SSA subs

Re: Audio distorted when converting from MKV to Mp4 or M4V
... it's something to do with your choice of audio codec... there's another AAC encoder for a reason
although, you shouldn't be transcoding AAC to AAC especially not anymore...

Re: Audio Track Names in svn7009 (and earlier)
no idea why it's not working for you
no codec packs are required... and they're usually recommended against from what i've seen...
i only use MPC-HC with the occasional VLC, so i'm not sure what else to recommend...

Re: Interlacing artifacts after Detelecine/Decombing
yeah, i'm doubtful it'll fix it... just the artifacts are from the previous and next(?) frame, so i'm curious if detelecine is simply not applying those fields to their respective frames... if there is even a way to force that

Re: Interlacing artifacts after Detelecine/Decombing
well, Handbrakes detelecine isn't the greatest... if that's the case, i wonder if allowing detelecine to use the chroma would help :? the default detelecine parameters (according the the CLI Guide ) are 1:1:4:4:0:0:-1 so try either 1:1:4:4:0:1:-1 or 1:1:4:4:0:2:-1 in the custom detelecine box ... if...

.m4v is .mp4 for apple you can select in preferences which one handbrake will use... you can also just change the extension (i think?)

Re: Ipod resolution settings
you shouldn't be cropping if you're going to do custom anamorphic :? 320x240 is 4:3 SAR if using anamorphic none, you crop 160 to both left and right, so for 1280x720 it would be 960x720 before scaling... if you really want custom anamorphic while keeping the 16:9 video (if the ipod classic supports...

Re: Copy BD-disc contents into MKV container
handbrake is a video transcoder, only thing it can passthru is audio depending on the codec and container... so no, it can't copy DVDs/BDs like MakeMKV does... if you're having issues ripping a BD with MakeMKV, i'd suggest you make a post over at the MakeMKV forums if you haven't done so yet... then...

Re: iOS 8 can't recognize multiple audio tracks in M4V?
for streaming you should be using -O or --optimize , which i don't see in your log... could be why you can't stream via the safari option

did a short encode, and my iPhone 5 (iOS 8.2) could see 2 tracks... although i copied the file directly to my iphone... never used a DLNA, but i doubt that should cause any issues(?)... although both said english, unless i'm mistaking what trackname does, i expected the Director's Commentary to say ...

Re: Handbrake causing strange interlacing?
enabling detelecine won't do anything bad if it's not telecined (at least it shouldn't, from what i've read)... if you're still seeing interlacing in the output after using detelecine, than use decomb (it's not as destructive to the progressive frames as regular deinterlacing) actually, i remember r...

Re: Handbrake causing strange interlacing?
... Japan just seems to love telecine for some reason :? it annoys me greatly... especially when i can't properly detelecine some things with either hanbrake or hyrbrid's myriad of detelecine filters... even worse when they edit something in a way where you actually CAN'T detelecine it no matter wha...

Re: Running at 100% cpu
1000??? you should only be using a max of threads=6 for a quad core cpu (if no hyperthreading/etc)... which is what x264 should default to(1.5xlogical cores) in your case... personally, i put 1 thread per logical core :P i think one should only change the number of x264 threads if they want ...

i would just suggest that you separate the title by chapters in makemkv first... might be a little more tedious though, but that would depend on your preferences

Re: x264 build 144 New AQ mode
i think the default is still aq-mode=1... aq-mode=2 was still considered experimental prior to that version...
you use it by putting in the extra options box
... you'll have to test it out to see how it affects quality as i haven't really done so yet
you use it by putting
Code: Select all
aq-mode=3
