Re: HB not "auto-cropping" from makemkv file

I don't suppose you've looked at the preview images in the gui. I did look at the preview images and there were indeed some gray ones. I just ran Ghostbusters which is h.264 and all the images were kinda overlaid-grey and pixellated. Do you also see the problem when the source codec is h.264? The G...

Re: HB not "auto-cropping" from makemkv file

After the scan, the images used for cropping are in a directory /tmp/hb.????. They are in a raw yuv format, so you can't easily look at them in an image viewer. But if you could post them somewhere, I could have a look to see why autocrop doesn't crop anything. Hey John, thanks for your help! Unfor...

Re: HB not "auto-cropping" from makemkv file

Where is the rest of the log? A scan says nothing about cropping. Rodney Sorry, I thought that was all that was needed as cropping is usually detected during the scan. Here is the log after encoding the first chapter: [08:03:03] hb_init: checking cpu count [08:03:03] hb_init: starting libhb thread ...

HB not "auto-cropping" from makemkv file

I've found that HandBrakeCLI is not detecting the crop for the MKV files created with makemkv from an anydvdhd ripped BD source. All my HB m4v output files are coming out letterboxed with black bars on the top and bottom. Is this a known issue? Also, I have not encountered this with m2ts files creat...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD Backup w/ FairMount & HandBrake

@bajadahl: Thanks for posting your fix! I've just tried the original script on my MBA with an external superDrive running 10.6 and it seemed to work fine for me. I agree that the useGrowl property should be set to "no" for the time being, unless your running System Prefs in 32-bit mode, which I'm no...

Please Enlighten Me: Advanced x264 Settings for HD Encoding

I want to learn more about setting advanced x264 options for BD encodes. I've reviewed a lot of threads on this forum regarding the subject, but there seems to a lot of contradictory info … perhaps it's just personal preference, but in any case I'd like to hear anyone's latest findings on the use of...

Re: svn2592, 2713, 2725 Segmentation Fault with M2ts, vc1, dts

I appreciate your suggestion, but I've tried BDclown under VMware Fusion. Like John wrote, It is really is just a front end for eac3to and a couple other tools ... including tsMuxeR. I don't see how there would be any difference between muxing with BDClown or just using tsMuxeR ... Other than the gu...

Re: svn2592, 2713, 2725 Segmentation Fault with M2ts, vc1, dts

What are you using to splice together the collection of m2ts files? In general, you can't just concatenate them together. Thank you so much for your help! In answer to your question, I'm using the tsMuxeR GUI and cli (mac) to combine the m2ts files. Thanks again for the link, I'll take a crack at t...

mac.jedi, have a look to see if I replicated your scenario properly. Hi John, Thanks for looking into this. Everything looks right. The only other common thing I've noticed is that the "titles" that are failing are also seamless branching. So it may be something to do with HandBrake or a support ap...

svn2592, 2713, 2725 Segmentation Fault with M2ts, vc1, dts

I'm getting regular segmentation faults when encoding tsMuxeR m2ts files with VC-1 and DTS. I get the error either straight away or 30-40% in. This is only happening with the last few svn's I've compiled: svn2592 svn2713 svn2725 If I use SVN 2412 I get no seg faults. It works perfectly, as all my co...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

Has anyone been having segmentation fault errors when encoding tsMuxer m2ts files with DTS audio? I use the mac cli and have no issues with svn2412, but sometime after svn2412 something changed. I really want to move to newer version (64-bit especially). I've tried various args with svn2592 and svn2...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD Backup w/ FairMount & HandBrake

Being somewhat new to all of this, is there a setting in the encode script that I need to change to get individual episodes? Hi rockrabbit, I'm not familiar with the way the spongebob dvd's are set up, but most tv show dvd's have each episode as a separate Title, not Chapter. The encode script is d...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

If anyone's interested, I've added the cnID, chapters and hd flagging to an encode batch script. It'll log and select the next cnID from a text file and add them during the HD/SD encodes. #!/bin/sh # HandbrakeCLI-HD.sh # Finds moves and renames all the eac3to chapter text files from the BD folders t...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

I've tested a patch to mp4chaps that allows direct reading of the chapter files from eac3to. It works as it should; I expect it will be committed to SVN as soon as the dev gets around to it. Once it makes it into SVN code, I'll update my first post with the new information. Hi nightstrm! Thanks for...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD Backup w/ FairMount & HandBrake

Sorry, I must have include this on accident. The -2 is two-pass, and -T is turbo first pass. You can delete them from your args if you don't want it. I always use it because I encode on an 8-core Mac Pro and it doesn't really seem to matter for me.

Re: How-To: Automate DVD Backup w/ FairMount & HandBrake

In the HandBrakeCLI-batch.sh, is there a way to have it encode the longest title? Or a specific title? Instead of just the "minimum get time" option?
