Re: Having issues enable H265 Quicksync

Maybe you need to update your Intel igpu drivers. Also worth running Dxvachecker to see if your igpu supports the codec you want to encode: http://bluesky23.yukishigure.com/en/DXVAChecker.html

Re: Benchmarking DVD drive transfer rates bottlenecking Handbrake

Just talking theoretically because your DVD drive can only transfer or read a certain mb/s rate and if that number is less than your encode rate depending on what ever setting you have it could limit your encodes? I mean I just benched my DVD drives and it seems that I barely top out at 6X read spee...

Benchmarking DVD drive transfer rates bottlenecking Handbrake

Hi, When I rip one of my old DVD's I usually do a straight transfer from the DVD drive into HandBrake using Slysoft's Anydvd to decrypt the disk. Spent the morning comparing 1X to 16X transfer rates on Wikipedia and this got me curious as far as if I may encounter any bottlenecks in reading straight...

Re: How To Get HB With FDK-AAC + 10-Bit x265 v2.0 (Windows)

In order to check out the tag, you need to clone the repository first. git clone https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake.git Change to that directory. cd HandBrake Now you can list the tags. git tag And check out the 1.0.1 tag. git checkout tags/1.0.1 So the above terminal commands are all thats nee...

Re: Severe x265 performance hit on 1.0.0

I thought a 6700k has hardware encoding abilities for x265 built in so theoretically it should perform better than the 4770k you guys were talking about? That is if Handbrake takes advantage of those features. Lately I've been comparing my 6700K at 4.0 ghz against my 5820K at 3.6ghz and I got to say...

Re: Severe x265 performance hit on 1.0.0

So why upgrade to 1.0.1 if the nightly is working for me?

Re: Severe x265 performance hit on 1.0.0

Was wondering what version of x265 was in the Nightly build from Dec 31st?

Thanks

Re: Why 10-Bit?

Edit: I guess you need to find the right compatible version of the 10 bit x265 library file thats on that thread posted above. Anyhow wonder what advantage is there to 10 bit video files anyhow?? The 10-bit vs 8-bit bandwagon has been done (and proven) to death on Anime boards, so you can search th...

Re: How To Get HB With FDK-AAC + 10-Bit x265 v2.0 (Windows)

You are a treasure of information. Thank you.

As far as my understanding of the way Plex works is that it transcodes the video so the tv can play them otherwise Samsung has not updated the TV to support that codec so direct stream wont work.

Sorry off topic..

Re: How To Get HB With FDK-AAC + 10-Bit x265 v2.0 (Windows)

Wonder if Plex supports 10 bit playback? I've already encoded a significant amount of my video collection into Mkv x265 and shocked to find out my Samsung plasma doesn't support the codec in dlna streamed playback, but PowerDVd 16 and Plex do. Both do a nice job but would be better if I had hardware...

Re: How To Get HB With FDK-AAC + 10-Bit x265 v2.0 (Windows)

Thanks I'll have to read that over. Was able to get HE-AAC (FDK) working on the Nightly build but the 10 bit x265 stub, even though it gets added to handbreaks options, fails to work. Also installing the Nightly over the 1.0.1 just creates a new install folder and doesnt over write the old one for w...

Re: Severe x265 performance hit on 1.0.0

I'm sorry I stand corrected. Turns out that setting tune to 'grain' on 1.0.1 nearly doubles the encoding time. I thought I had that setting manually set using ' --encoder-tune="grain" ' in the options box on 0.10.3 but that was probably incorrect and did nothing.

Thanks.

Re: Severe x265 performance hit on 1.0.0

Hi, I can also confirm a severe performance penalty going from 0.10.3 to 1.0.1. It use to take 15 minutes to encode a single episode on 10.3 and now almost 30 minutes to encode same file on 1.0.1. I tried to keep the settings the same except theres no 'Strict' for picture anomorphic setting and I se...
