Re: Scanning DVD Rip only finds one large title, no individual episodes

Not really. Once the copy protection is removed, the it comes down to how the distributor authored the disk. Fortunately, it's simple enough to queue up the episodes, once you know which chapters are which. You load the title, and tell handbrake chapters (in this case) 1 through 5, edit the output f...

In addition to your logs for both scenarios, are you using a customized preset, or one of the stock presets?

Re: Scanning DVD Rip only finds one large title, no individual episodes

That is one way to author a DVD or BD - the "episodes" are actually menu items that point to specific chapters within the larger file, or may be a "play list" that groups certain chapters together. Some ripping programs can figure out MOST such schemes, but there is no guarantee ...

Re: No audio on converted m4v file

When you did the original rip, did MakeMKV mention any audio sync issues? Normally, it will try to fix up minor differences between the audio and video tracks, but handbrake is saying the one track has very large sync issues.

Re: detelecine filter leaves some interlaced frames behind.

Detelecine doesn't do deinterlacing - it converts a back from 30/60 fps to where the video was originally, usually 24fps (nominal), by removing the frames that were added by the telecine process.

If you want to get rid of interlacing, that is deinterlace or decomb.

Because QT doesn't support graphic subtitles like you find on DVDs and Blurays (VOBSUB and PGS, respectively).

Synology sells a box that will take 8 drives, and works very well as a media server. I need to add another drive to mine, 'cuz I'm down to 1.8TB free out of 18. Maybe I should have spent the money on the 6TB drives... :)

Re: Can not rip from External DVD drive

That is because handbrake is not intended as a ripper, so it does not remove copy protection. There have been 3rd-party add-ons to enable decryption, but they are easily broken, and are not supported here. You need to use something intended for ripping, to create files that handbrake can handle. The...

Re: HB Doesn't recognize AVI-"No Valid Source Found"

If the decoder can't figure out the layout of the file, there is not much handbrake can do with it. There are many things that are called AVI files that do not meet any particular standard. Some cameras claim to output AVI files, but require a conversion utility to make their AVI files playable by &...

Re: Handbrake not showing titles after scan

"Suddenly stopped working" could be because of a number of factors. Windows could chose not to allow the DLL to load, or a registry glitch could forget where it is located. An antivirus program could get a burr under its saddle during a recent update and block it as a suspicious program. T...

Re: Frame rate slightly off standard

30fps is a nominal figure, not exact. The time base STANDARD is a fraction off. As such, there will be some "jitter" as the frame-to-frame timing approximates the 1/30th of a second.

29.996 or 29.997 IS the standard, because of this.

As mentioned, you've given no information that would allow anyone here to answer your question. Most likely, your TV isn't compatible with SRT subtitles, but we know nothing about your handbrake configuration during the encode, or the movie itself, to point you toward any solution. This is why there...

Search for "mkvtoolnix" and download the Mac version. Using mkvmerge, you can create an MKV file that contains both tracks, then handbrake can process that in to an mp4 file.

Re: Handbrake uses 100% of CPU

For most people, making full use of the CPU is the desired option. Handbrake actually runs at a reduced priority, so other tasks CAN use the CPU, but it will run at full speed if there is no normal-priority task to get in the way. Any machine you plan on doing encoding on should be "up to the t...

Quicktime is a very limited application. There are reasons for special presets to create files for it.

Without logs, everything is a guess. Are you trying to rip directly from the DVD, or are you using a ripping utility to get the video files onto disk? Ripping from optical media is tricky - the operating system has to acknowledge that the disk is there before anything can happen. If it doesn't, it c...
