Re: It used to work, now it doesn't [Garbled]

libdvdread: Encrypted DVD support unavailable. Your old system must have had the unsupported 3rd-party add-on to decrypt DVDs, and the new one doesn't. Handbrake does not, on its own, deal with encrypted disks. I believe that we're coming up on the 11th anniversary of the announcement of that short...

Re: H264 Intel Quick sync video

The question is not "clear", because of factors you probably haven't considered. There is a limit to how many cores a given encode will use, so if you're looking to have "all cores" used, you go with fewer cores, or do multiple encodes. x265 and x264 have differences in how they use multiple cores, ...

Re: Video_ts

If you're trying to have handbrake read files on the DVD, handbrake is not a ripper, so you're starting out with one strike against you. Use a ripper to extract the titles from the DVD (I use MakeMKV, there are others), then convert the ones you want from there. After you've got that part down, we'l...

Re: CPU-Usage

Most CPUs are rated for at least 80C continuous. Some go as high as 95C. A good cooling system can keep them under 70C during encodes; a really good cooling system can keep them under 60C, so long as your case has a way to vent the hot air. Case ventilation that isn't up to the job can cause CPU tem...

Re: Imported Subtitles Remain on Screen...

Considering that a LOT of people use handbrake with SRT subtitles (including me), it is NOT that simple. If you think the log information is too sensitive, then we're at an stand-off as far as being able to obtain help with your issue. It COULD be as simple as the SRT file lacks turn-off codes for i...

Re: Imported Subtitles Remain on Screen...

So, the log file would say if the subtitles were burned in by Handbrake or if they were simply passed through to the output, but we don't know that, since you removed that part of the log. This is why we need the log itself, not just what you think we need of it. We have no clue if this is a player ...

Re: Display aspect ratio 16:9 but rotation 90° in metadata

Some players will use the rotation flag, while others ignore it. Handbrake has not automatically used it, but I think that's one of the changes in the Nightly builds, coming up for version 1.3.x. Frankly, it's been a while since it came up, and my memory is foggy on whether or not the automatic use ...

Re: Display aspect ratio 16:9 but rotation 90° in metadata

Using the GUI, select the rotation value from the filters page. If you are using the command line interface, --help shows: --rotate[=string] Rotate image or flip its axes. angle rotates clockwise, can be one of: 0, 90, 180, 270 hflip=1 flips the image on the x axis (horizontally). Re: Converting to AVI and Black Border aspect ratio

Some devices that "must" have AVI can be fooled by simply changing the extension to .avi. I have a TV that won't play MKV files unless the extension is .avi, and then they play fine.

And so you know, if you do not feed handbrake an HD source, you won't get an HD output.

But those missing logs would tell us if that was the case.

Is the 65% you're seeing across all cores, or just the active ones? With 12 cores/24 available threads, this configuration is not going to involves all available cores. Depending on how you're viewing the processor load, you might have half the cores at 100%, and the rest idling along with nothing t...

Re: Ryzen 3900x performance issue

Without a log, we can't help much. Settings influence speed, especially filters selected. Some filters can bottle-neck an encode. Also, where you obtain your handbrake version can affect things, because distro packagers often produce known-broken versions of handbrake, to satisfy their particular so...

This is DEFINITELY where we need logs. We need to know what handbrake saw and what you asked to do.

Closed Captions tracks are not regular subtitle tracks.

Re: Display aspect ratio changed to 1.728 from 16:9

Handbrake detected letter box filler, and cropped it from the video. If you want the output file's aspect ratio to be exactly 1.7777777777, you can disable auto cropping and set the crop values to all zeros.

Re: Deleting Audio Only

Not with handbrake - it's a video encoder, so it's going to encode the video. You can remove the audio easily enough, by not selecting any, but the video WILL be re-encoded. There are other utilities that can strip the audio tracks without encoding the video, however. ffmeg's command line can do tha...

Make the output file type MKV. You can't put "soft" Bluray subtitles in an MP4.

If your player doesn't support MKV files, you'll have to upgrade your player, or live with burned-in subtitles.

Insuring it properly would require inventorying it. I'm not QUITE that OC, although I have thought about doing it simply to be able to find things I need to re-rip. And to make sure "season 1" and "season 2" are in the same box. That's why I've been casually looking at inventory programs that can wo...
