Re: qsv-svn5476 Quicksync

CQP encoding is much better in some videos which is no surprise though. I was trying to do a comparison with QSTranscode but CQP didn't work properly. Fortunately newest MediaEspresso press version support CQP (it is called constant quality, should be the same). There is only a CQP Normal and CQP Hi...

Re: qsv-svn5476 Quicksync

After some new comparisons I have to correct my initial statement. Quality is top notch for Quicksync compared to my reference QS encoders MediaEspresso 6.7 and QSTranscode.

Re: OpenCL Nightly Builds

Oh and btw OpenCL 1.2 rules out any Nvidia GPU since Nvidia doesn't support this. Is this patch made by AMD? I have to say well done AMD, mission accomplished. No wonder every other GPU vendor is blocked for marketing reasons, nice.

Re: qsv-svn5476 Quicksync

Definitely sligthly slower in every video. My guess is that some of the MFX options which QSTranscode disabled is enabled in the Handbrake implementation and some of these might cause a slight slowdown compared to QSTranscode. These are enabled by default in the SDK: MFX_EXTBUFF_VPP_DENOISE MFX_EXTB...

Re: OpenCL Nightly Builds

Any modern AMD or NVIDIA GPU that supports OpenCL 1.2 or later

No Intel support. Thanks

Re: qsv-svn5476 Quicksync

9.18.10.3071 installed and now the test video works. Compared to QStranscode Handbrake encoded the test video slightly slower and quality is worse than QSTranscode (identical settings). Could be difficult to reach QStranscode quality/speed ratio. Will do more tests tomorrow.

qsv-svn5476 Quicksync

I will do some tests now. First video I tried didn't work. Nothing happens. Here is the test video: http://dlsecondary.gamersyde.com/secdl/9f627fdbb700442e47d82490a2302ada/5199536d/FC3_PC_Outpost.mp4 This is a 60 fps video. There is no fps option where I could choose 30 fps. This is currently same a...

Re: QuickSync

HB on a Core i7 3770 is pretty fast on the faster settings - so the question is weather QS might rival the fast settings in term of same quality but at different speeds. On a chip like that QS offers the same quality/bitrate as x264 superfast, at about the same encoding speed. So there's little ups...

Re: AVX2?

So you didn't test, that's what I needed to know. I better wait for real tests to see what it brings or not. Don't worry, I give a s-hit about marketing.

AVX2?

Here is a first preview for AVX2 @x264: http://de.scribd.com/doc/137419114/Intr ... ns-in-x264

Since Haswell adds AVX2 support very soon, is it planned to add AVX2 support for Handbrake?

Re: Successfully built HB with MinGW/MSYS (need help!)

Media Espresso is pure garbage... its like using any software from Apple: limitations, limitations ! Read the article i linked, it tells that Arcsoft Media Converter does the best job using QS - i dont know why ! As I said Arcsoft is much worse than MediEspresso with high profile and quality option...

Re: Successfully built HB with MinGW/MSYS (need help!)

These are just GUI's. If they all pass down the same settings, they should all get the same quality / speed unless they are doing something else outside quicksync. I know, but in the end there are bigger differences between QS encoders for me as user for whatever reason. I also tried MediaCoder whi...

Re: Successfully built HB with MinGW/MSYS (need help!)

According to this article: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/128681-the-wretched-state-of-gpu-transcoding/5 The best possible quality from QS is done in Arcsoft Media Converter - while Cyberlink Media Espresso does a terrible job. AMC seems to be acceptable ? at least QS is super fast, so some b...

Re: Successfully built HB with MinGW/MSYS (need help!)

There is very little you can tweak in terms of quality since there are only a handful of actual options you can pass to the encoder, most of which don't affect quality. In other words, it's not going to be any better or worse than any other app that uses quicksync. But there are bigger quality diff...
