Re: TFF source but MBAFF output despite flags

Just a suggestion, you can convert to progressive while preserving motion using bob decomb/deinterlace.

It should be about the same encoding time as no tune. Just tweaks a few parameters, may slightly boost quality.

Re: Looking for No Quality Loss DVD Settings

NLMeans on Light will reduce noise while preserving more detail (less smooth, unless the source already is). It's a lot slower, however.

Again, use whichever works and be happy!

Re: Looking for No Quality Loss DVD Settings

@musicvid, take it easy on the new guy, he's just asking questions. Quality is subjective. My primary player only supports MP4, so I'm stuck re-encoding. I use 16-18 on 480p because I'm a quality snob and imperfections are more apparent at 55 inches diagonal. I don't recommend such low rate factors ...

Re: Force Aspect Ratio

You can always adjust Display Width to change the anamorphic aspect. Display height is fixed to the storage height. Mac GUI calculates and shows the PAR Width and PAR Height for you; I'm not sure what exactly Win GUI does. It's a simple metric: PAR Width / PAR Height = Display Width / Storage Width....

Re: Force Aspect Ratio

On the Picture tab, set Anamorphic to Custom. Then enter 533 for the Display Width, which translates to PAR Width 25 and PAR Height 33.

This will yield a display aspect of 1.3325 (533x400) stored at 704x400 pixels.

Re: Posting rules

Thanks for reading the rules. If it's piracy, we'd rather you not post about it here. We try to keep potentially illegal activity off the site. What's potentially illegal varies from country to country, but in general if you have not purchased a commercial disc then that is probably piracy. We don't...

@Sokku:

Some of the suggestions in your report have already been implemented (specifically, revisions 7117, 7118, and 7125). Others are in discussion.

You can follow our code progress on Trac https://trac.handbrake.fr/timeline.

Thank you.

Re: Strict anamorphic with MINIMUM width of 1920...

That should work just fine. Source 1920xN with strict mod 2 and 0 side cropping should result in no scaling in the horizontal dimension (storage width). The aspect will be correct. In the case of true anamorphic input (video stored stretched), the display dimensions may list a wider width, but rest ...

Re: Strict anamorphic with MINIMUM width of 1920...

Unfortunately, you'll have to remove the left and right crop for each encode.

Whenever we revisit anamorphic, I'll certainly be looking to add something like this as I typically do not crop small numbers of side pixels either. When that will be, who knows.

Looks like a damaged disc, poorly mastered disc, or more likely a copy protected disc. HandBrake does not remove copy protections.

Re: Bluray to cut convert - best settings

HandBrake is not good for this purpose. However, you can use these settings:

Normal preset, MP4 file.

Constant framerate (same as source).

Constant quality RF:18

Additional options: keyint=24
- makes 1 keyframe every second

Audio: AAC

Re: CLI parameters and AppleScript help needed please

1) The shell script suffix is deleting your log. > output_file.log 2>&1 & 2) Add --start-at="frame:300" to your parameters assuming NTSC, which is 30 frames per second (29.97 actually). As for editor, I'm quite rusty. Also, those parameters seem quite silly, using abr and no cabac, level 3.0. Are yo...
