Re: LPCM sorely needed

AFAICT it's still not in the actual ISO spec per se. MP4RA is so vendors can communicate their identifiers to avoid stepping on each others' toes. Both are relatively official, each in their own sense. LA mostly deals with licensing.

Re: Burning SRT Subtitles Onto An Existing Video

Your SRT probably contains all the English subtitles. You need an SRT with only the forced subs, or source video with a forced subtitles track. Basically, there is no information in any of your files to tell HandBrake which subtitles should be displayed and which should be hidden.

Re: Playing x.265 mkv on Roku Smart TV from smb network

HandBrake's Roku presets are targeted at standalone Roku devices. My Sharp Roku TVs do play MKV via USB drives but I have only tested H.264. You would need to check the TV's specifications for MKV and H.265/HEVC support. I'm not sure what other media players are available beside the built-in ones, a...

Re: LPCM sorely needed

Yep, oddly enough when I loaded https://mp4ra.org/#/codecs on mobile and searched for pcm to double check before posting, it did not hit. But of course it is there now on desktop. I stand corrected. Naturally, many (most?) common devices don't support it, sadly.

Re: Is Intel QSV or NvidiaENC available with CLI?

Good ideas. I'm mostly wanting to keep it fairly easy to update as things change, so advanced interactivity here might be more of a burden.

Re: LPCM sorely needed

I would also like to see PCM support added, if only to better suit the Production presets. I use PCM quite a lot as well, typically over SPDIF, the optical implementation not supporting many channels. I still find it a shame MP4 does not officially support PCM audio, hacks in the wild notwithstanding.

Re: Is Intel QSV or NvidiaENC available with CLI?

Yes, it varies based on available options that are generated live. I'm considering ways to overcome this in the documentation, potentially just merging the output of all possibilities.

Re: HandBrake 1.3.0 comment Thread

The last version officially supported on Ubuntu 16.04 was HandBrake 1.1.2: https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.3.0/tech ... ments.html

Bypassing version checks seems ill-advised. Nasm 2.13 or later and Meson 0.47.0 or later are certainly required! Hence the version checks.

Re: cpu utilization kinda reversed

Probably bottlenecking on filters, try disabling decomb and interlace detection.

An Activity Log is required for support and will help us see what's going on.

Hi, the Devices > Apple 720p30 Surround preset replaced the old iPad preset some time ago. If you have a newer device you can also try the Apple 1080p30 Surround preset.

Re: Need to Further Reduce File Sizes, Especially in Sub-5MB File Size

The NLMeans denoiser can help reduce complexity and bit rate. Reduce your audio from stereo 160 kbps to mono 48 kbps, or remove it if audio is not necessary. Assuming you're serving your videos via the HTML5 video element, you can create more than one version to serve higher efficiency codecs like H...

Re: Word translation

Thanks for helping translate HandBrake. :) These words in HandBrake are proper nouns and probably should remain English. Perhaps in the future when we have more information on filters in the HandBrake documentation (https://handbrake.fr/docs), they can be described in more detail there. If you would...

Re: Widescreen Blu-Ray rip is encoded as a Full Screen movie

Automatic cropping is removing 272 pixels from the left and 2 from the right. If the source is particularly dark, it can fool the algorithm that removes black borders. Try manually setting cropping to 0 on all sides.

AVI is a no go.

The latter you can fix by setting anamorphic to custom and inputting the proper values.

MKVToolNix, but indeed MKV won't work for Discord on most devices. You can use it to split your source video and then feed the pieces to HandBrake individually.

Re: Visual artifacts/Green Blocks in output files inconsistently

I'm not entirely certain but it does seem to crop up from time to time. QSV decode isn't really necessary, anyway. It will be more useful once we have a full hardware decode/encode path with no software in the way, which is being worked on.

Re: Can I set the color profile in the GUI version of HandBrake?

I should add, it's possible the source doesn't have this information set (or we're not reading it correctly), so HandBrake is guessing a profile.
