I'm having trouble with watching mkv's in VLC. I can make a movie with handbrake that will play fine as an MP4 or avi, but once I mux it to mkv seeking is broken in VLC. That's fine, just make sure you don't set your vbv too low, or you'll just end up with a CBR encode at that bitrate :puke:

I have found the exact opposite to be true, that FAAC is far superior to the iTunes AAC encoder. The 360 can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. The only tech note that I could find stated that they had tested up to 10Mbps ABR. The only thing they don't state is what feature set it supports (Main Profile only, High Profile).
