Re: Why is 1920x1080 after HB not the same as before?

The film in its native to disk form, for just the picture of the movie you actually "see", its aspect...is only really 1920 x 800. YES Then I guess for reasons I don't really know so it will show and stay this way under all the conditions the film might encounter....black bars are actually added? YE...

Re: Why is 1920x1080 after HB not the same as before?

Maybe I can answer without your log:- From what you have said, it appears that the movie is authored at ~1:2.40 aspect ratio. Most movies are authored at aspect ratios from 1:1.20:1 to 1:1.240 which is not TV/Display aspect ratio which is 16:9 (1920 x 1080) hence the "letterboxing" (black bars top a...

Not that I know of in Handbrake. You will need to look for another utility to do this.

Have/can you try the suspect titles on a direct attached USB to the Roku?

If they play OK directly connected, it would prove your bitrate suspicion for a start.

Re: Add AC3 to an MKV or convert both into MP4 on command li

I'd try it with MKVMerge (Part of MKVToolnix - Free Download)

First load the existing video file, add the AC3 file then mux it without the first audio track.

You can then pass this file through handbrake.

Re: Auto downloading of meta data and encoding presets?

If you build it... How about you build it if you are so adamant? There are plenty of applications that have taken literally years of development that already do this. XBMC, YAMJ, Thumbgen & Ember Media Manager are just a few. Why should the devs bother when:- 1. They are not particularly interested...

HandBrake can use an external libdvdcss for decryption under OS X, but it's never been supported under Windows (or Linux also).

Re: Subtitles on DVD but not going on MP4

It really depends on how the studio authored the title. Some have the "Forced Only" held in a stream by itself and others have it within the main subs. What movie title are you working on? The only real way to see what is going on is to pre-rip the DVD to your hard disk and then inspect the sub auth...

Re: Missing Chapters or Titles to Encode

I note that you are using Windoze and have not mentioned any decryption software.

Handbrake does not decrypt in any way, shape or form.

Please use something like MakeMKV, DVD Fab or ANyDVD to prerip to your hard disk for processing by Handbrake.

Re: x264 Preset - Super Fast / Very Fast / Faster etc.

This rather bemuses me. Why go to all the trouble of transcoding and then storing the resultant files on optical disks? For goodness sake, invest in a large capacity USB hard disk and a player that can utilise it if your current one does not!! "OP doesn't want to "limit" encodes to 23 GB as he says....

Re: add subtitle to mp4 without converting

If you are going to use your PC, this is what I would do. 1. Download the subtitles from one of the subtitle sites if you don't already have them. (opensubtitles.org is one of many) 2. Download chapters from one of the chapter sites. (http://chapterdb.org is again one of many) 3. Remux original file...

If you are going to use your PC, I suggest that you seriously look at XBMC for a good library management and playing experience. I also invested in a USB Wireless Mini-Keyboard and it really is good.

I would suggest that you seriously test the Samsung TV playing before you start anything as the player software in most modern TV's is brain-dead.

Re: add subtitle to mp4 without converting

If you were using the MKV container I would recommend MKVMerge (Part of MKVToolnix).

A lot of hardware players will not support soft subs in the MP4 container.

And no, IMHO your request is not within the purview of Handbrake.

MakeMKV is a RIPPER which will defeat any copy protection as it copies the title to your hard disk for further processing by HandBrake.

Download it from the Internet. Google is your friend..

Yeah, buy yourself a media player that is not brain-damaged such as the Pivos, WD TV, Mede8er, etc, etc ... It'll cost you less than a hundred bux which will be less than the hair replacement treatment that you will need from [Censored] around with devices such as this that claim to do everything!!!...
