It's a pun. "Rocky Balboa" is a fighter ... fighters go down when knocked out etc. ... sheckylovejoy, I too was able to successfully rip Casino Royale with MTR 3.0d r14. And don't you also get about 20% more maximum bitrate if using DPLII? (384/6=64 vs. 160/2=80)?

You forgot Step 9, Return intentionally crippled DVD to store due to breach of contract. (not that I'd want to go toe-to-toe with Sony's lawyers, but there it is.) Really, the only message that will filter back to Sony is the one that hits them in the pocketbook directly. And I'm not advocating anyo...

... But as with music transferred to iPod, there's no way to transfer the movie back from the iPod to my Mac. Or is there a program that will enable this? Your movies are still in iTunes, right? Somehow, I have the feeling the answer is "no." Senuti and other apps can move music back to a Mac; don'...

Sounds like you're taking the long road to making a Mac mini, particularly since the opposite can also be done --- load the AppleTV interface onto a normal Mac ... however I recognize the component and HDMI outputs advantages of ATV. Good luck. [Edit]: Keep in mind that talk of how-to-hack-an-ATV is...

Look on the (bright side.)

Since the encode isn't the problem, adjust your TV or monitor. Many TVs have custom user presets and of course OS X can use different custom profiles to switch in a jiffy. And then in 5 years when Apple fixes it you can forget all that and still watch your old encodes as-is.

Ouch, I didn't realize it was the total bitrate, not per channel being used. Hell yeah, crank that sucker up. Having said this, and perhaps I am being too critical, but I still think the sound quality is not as “rich” as the original AC3 track from the DVD Probably just means you have a good ear. Co...

On p. 5 we were lucky to have been paid a visit by the A52Codec developer. If that support winds up allowing Quicktime to handle AC-3 in an intelligent way for use in the types of files HB is designed to make, don't you greatly prefer that to what you're proposing?

I've not been able to test on a movie with it's own soundtrack because I don't know how to extract a usuable DTS or DD file and use it on QuickTime. Any takers? Take copious notes and let us know them. Jot down exactly how you ripped the disk, or parts of it --- and what version of HB worked or didn't. At the very least it'll prod you to perhaps try it a different way. Just saying it doesn't work isn't going to crack this particular nut --- the...

Leo, you seem to be asking if the TV should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to de-interlace interlaced content. I've been told that it isn't a concern. This is my understanding. Corrections/clarifications from the group are always welcomed: Old TVs that need an interlaced si...
