The Office Season 1 worked fine for me using MTR. This DVD has a weird VOB file structure. It was a pain to figure out what title was what episode. Some episodes appear twice in the title list.

MediaFork cannot stitch together titles from a DVD(s). The easiest way to do this is with DVD2oneX. You will need to rip both DVDs to your hard drive with MTR. Then use 'seamless title join' within DVD2oneX. Make sure you increase the target size of the DVD (to be made by DVD2oneX) so it won't compr...

Handbrake is most likely not reading all the titles. I've noticed this with about 5% of my DVDs. Handbrake numbers the titles, is there a number missing?

The VIDEO_TS folder needs to be re-authorized. You will need to make a movie only VIDEO_TS folder. This requires MTR and/or DVD2oneX.

Can you play the DVDs or the VIDEO_TS folders with Apple's DVD Player software?

Sometimes it helps if you open the video in Apple's DVD Player before you start to rip. Just skip through the chapters, watching 5 seconds of each and then try to rip again.

It happens because of copyright protection. Re-rip with the newest MTR beta. POH encoded fine for me after a Main Feature rip with MTR 14d.

Just crop them off. Auto-crop should pick those up, if not just set a custom crop of 2 px for the top and bottom.

My guess is you are cropping some pixels off. Uncheck auto-crop. The auto-scale in MediaFork will drop your width to 624 if you (or it) crop out to many pixels. This will sometimes result in a slightly messed up aspect ratio. I always custom crop my 640 x 480 material and sometimes leave a little bi...

I thought 2 pass allocated the bits to try to get a consant Q value throughout, and would have thought that simply using that CRF value in the first place would actually allocate the bits better? No. I don't see how a CRF 1-Pass can allocate bits better than a 2-Pass encode. The whole point of the ...

Thanks hawkman. Can this be expressed as a rough percentage of how much more efficient it typically ends up, or how much more filespace I'd have to use on single pass CRF? Are we talking 5%? 10%? Surely not more than 10%? I don't think anyone here knows how to or even wants to try and quantify the ...

AC3 5.1 will be the movie audio in Dolby Surround. The AC3 2.0 will be the directors commentary.

It sounds like you encoded this movie a few times and it appears that the version you put on the iPod has the AC3 2.0 audio. Re-encode with iPod settings and choose AC3 5.1.

This reminds me of something. Long time ago I did a Main Feature Extraction with MTR (13e) on a Star Trek episode and it had the wrong chapter count and cut out early. I had to rip the entire disc. I think that the MTR team has specifically designed Main Feature Mode to go after the new discs and pe...

But, those buttons wouldn't be functional in a MP4 video, right?
Of course not.

Try to lower the video bitrate until you get smooth playback. You might have to live with a lower bitrate if you want 5.1 AAC. You have not told us what your audio bitrate is, maybe you can lower that as well.

Re: Is 2 pass better than CRF?

I keep seeing things about people running a single CRF pass to get a filesize then running 2 pass for the given filesize. Does this actually improve quality? How can it? I thought the data would be optimally allocated the first time... And is the benefit of this significant? Can it be equated to an...

Go to the forums and read through some posts. The people who are having problems are not reading the directions or have crappy Apple disc drives. If you read the forums and purchase a good disc drive you should have no problems.

Virtually all US television shows up until the mid-to-late 1990s are interlaced NTSC on DVD. Though it's worth noting that mid-to-late 1990s shows that are just coming to DVD now, often have the deinterlacing done (badly) by the studio, so the DVDs are progressive. For example, I have the early 90s...

The answer to your question (if I understand it right) seems obvious, that's probably why no one has responded. You can leave auto crop on or you can custom crop. Auto crop on widescreen material works great. If you are doing video for the iPod and it is letter boxed, then I would crop out the black...

Without knowing if the VIDEO_TS folder is valid (can play on your computer) its hard for me t...
