Re: wrong subtitle names
HandBrake doesn't set the Matroska "forced track" tag anyway, so it's not surprising you would have never seen it.

It's 90,000/24 i.e. 3,750 ticks per frame.

Re: Problem with Subtitles getting added from MKV - MP4 conversion.
Blu-ray PGS subtitles cannot be muxed in an MP4 container, which is why they have to be burned in.

Re: HandBrake produces unplayable MKV files.
And you said that a file remuxed by mkvmerge directly, rather than using inviska first, also doesn't work, so, "what is inviska doing?" is a very good question. Probably nothing special; my guess is using mkvextract then mkvmerge would produce the same results. In an MKV to MKV remux, several Matro...

Re: HandBrake produces unplayable MKV files.
I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but, I believe all the muxers used in three programs (MakeMKV, mkvtoolnix, and handbrake) are derived from the same source library. That is indeed incorrect . I'm not sure whether MakeMKV uses libmatroska and libebml (like Mkvtoolnix), but HandBrake uses lib...

Re: HandBrake produces unplayable MKV files.
Given how HandBrake re-encodes both video and audio and the test without subtitle passthru failed, MDRP is already out of the mix, so to speak. Given how Inviska is used post-HandBrake, it was never in the mix to begin with

Re: HandBrake produces unplayable MKV files.
Well not sure what's up with your playback device then. Does remuxing with Mkvtoolnix (MKV to MKV) work?

Re: HandBrake produces unplayable MKV files.
I have to extract the HB produced .mkv file with the Inviska MKV Extract and then remux extracted files with the MKVToolNix in order to get the movie playing. HandBrake makes valid MKV files, but some media players are sometimes unnecessarily picky. Usually remuxing with MKVtoolnix in a single step...

Re: AC3 Codec & Batch Processing
Auto Passthru can pass several input track types through (you set which get passed through via checkboxes in the "selection behavior" dialog) and you can set the desired fallback encoder. AC3 Passthru passes AC3 through and re-encodes other input types to AC3.

Re: Handbrake GUI - How to Select Constant Quality at Decimal Intervals?
I do use half-points myself TBH. And for very grainy full HD sources sometimes a half-point difference is like up to 10% bitrate difference.

We don't do Vorbis passthrough. Patches welcome.

Re: (Soft)Subtitles not working
It actually does, I was jet lagged. Only in the case of burn-in do we not know how many packets/frames there were. But at least my guess was correct, glad it's solved!

Re: (Soft)Subtitles not working
The log doesn't show how many subtitle packets/frames there were… it's possible the character set was incorrect.

Yes, but the highlighted statement above is also incorrect (unless you actually meant "It's being worked but if it doesn't fix it, then the TV firmware is also buggy").

Re: NVENC on Windows nightly media info missing
@schinivision -> There is nothing you can do to force this. It requires a code change in HandBrake. It's being worked but if it fixes it, then the TV firmware is also buggy . No. The lack of parameter sets in the Matroska extradata (CodecPrivate) is a HandBrake bug, plain and simple. They're suppos...

Re: NVENC on Windows nightly media info missing
That's not metadata though, the profile and level are essential data that should be present and parseable in all H.264 bitstreams. It looks like possibly malformed or missing extradata (avcC).
