Re: my Xbox 360 wont play Apple universal encoded from Handbrake

We need an encode log if we are to guess what settings might be causing the issue.

Re: Add to Queue/Start Not Working

Anyway, here's the comparison between the CLI's "Apple TV" preset and the GUI's "Apple TV" preset. I believe they're supposed to be exactly the same, but the difference between the two is obvious both in terms of file size and visual quality. CLI : brindy$ ../HandBrakeCLI -i /Volumes/I_ROBOT_SPECIA...

Re: AppleTV Preset MetaX and Compatibility

How about reading the entire thread? I was asking about MetaX for Windows -- the latest Windows update (v1.10) does not support files >4GB -- and the last update on this thread is over a year old. So, you asked a great question -- How about reading the entire thread? Kevin Sorry, I missed that. Any...

Re: Shouldn't HB be using all my cores?

I don't think it will. I can do an encode in about 30-40 minutes, depending on the length of the movie. I did buy ripit, and it takes 40-50 minutes to rip a whole dual layer dvd. so, I guess I wasted that money... unless there's a way to rip JUST the feature, and none of the extra stuff. Well, if H...

Re: Shouldn't HB be using all my cores?

thanks rodeo. I like that i can get pretty decent quality at about 1.5GB as opposed 4 or 8 on a straight rip. I think I'll stick to handbrake-ing them. But I would imagine I could cut lots of daytime work by getting ripit, which takes a lot less time than handbrake encoding, then setting up a handb...

I think Subler can adjust audio volume in mp4. You can find more info about Subler in the Tiki Bar.

If you're running HandBrake 0.9.3, update your built-in presets:

Re: Shouldn't HB be using all my cores?

edit: looks like one can use ripit and watch the dvd's on their computer just like if they were watching off the dvd. is the advantage of using handbrake only to make a smaller and/or ipod compatible video? because I don't watch videos on my ipod. I want to put my movies on my laptop so i can watch...

Re: Problem with "weird" subtitles

Well, at least there is a subtitle track in your file - not sure whether it is English or not.

What happens if you try encoding a test chapter, with cropping set to remove letterboxing, and the subtitle set to Unknown?

Re: Problem with "weird" subtitles

What options do you get in the subtitle drop-down, other than None and Autoselect? Judging by your log, there seems to be a subtitle track in your source. If the subtitles are burned in the Japanese version of the movie, they only way to get them will be to adjust cropping as to not remove the lette...

Re: Stuttered audio+no subtitles after converting HD MKV to MP4

That is quite odd, because I've converted earlier episodes of this same anime series, but in an Xvid AVI with the same kind of subtitles, and Handbrake converted them perfectly fine. But even if it "cant read subtitles from other files,"... wow ... all I can say is "wow". http://forum.handbrake.fr/...

Re: Apple TV transfer

Encoding at .59 causes pixelation and artifacts/shadowing during high contract pictures. With x264, 70% is too high no matter what, you're just wasting bitrate with no visible improvement in terms of quality (and risk making the file incompatible with the ATV because of the bitrate). If 59% is not ...

Re: Turning widescreen to full screen without image stretch

Well, first of all you will want to crop the like you would if you were encoding for iPod (so remove any letterboxing and/or "TV safe" padding), and then crop the sides until the display size has an aspect ratio of or near 1.33:1 (4:3). Let's take, for example, a film with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio enco...

Thanks for the advice, I'll try lifting up the rear of my macbook. The weird thing is though that it does this randomly, not always when I convert. And usually while I'm doing something else. Re: [Invalid] [SVN 2263] Incorrect Framerate

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I guess this explains why applying your patch has a similar effect as my hack of increasing job->areBframes in encx264.c (which in turn increased pv->init_delay). But as jbrjake explained, the frame durations in the source material can be arbitrarily bad. The patch ...

You guys are pointing to a particular comment of van's about a very specific problem with source files, that can only be worked around by shaping to a constant FPS... Re: [Invalid] [SVN 2263] Incorrect Framerate

BTW, I figured out why the output with the patch is 23.97 fps vs. 24 without the patch: With van's patch, the duration (as reported by QuickTime) is 30.04 seconds (720/30.04 = 23.97), whereas the duration is 30.00 seconds without the patch. The source's duration when opened in QuickTime is 30.00 sec...
