Not a surprise. I'm not saying svn2942 fixed the issue, just that it didn't cause it.

Re: 0.9.4 and Autoselected Forced Subtitles

Unfortunately, due to all the new subtitle changes, you cannot save subtitles in presets.

So you'll have to choose "Foreign Language Search" (new name, same option) and check Forced Only before you add to queue.

Re: 0.9.4 missing bitrate 6 channel discrete AAC audio

I can reproduce it. I don't know what's causing this, all I know is that it's not svn2942.

Re: Close captioning confusion

Unless your extension is somehow set to .mp4, QuickTime should be able to display the subtitles (accessible from View > Subtitles).

If the extension is set to .mp4 for some reason, change it to .m4v - otherwise QuickTime won't let you select the subtitles.

Use an iPhone-compatible preset such as the Universal preset.

Re: Constant quality encoding, % of What?

No.

The percentage scale is useless. It's the RF value that matters. Recommended values for x264 are 23-19 (55-63%).

Re: How to create Soft Subtitles

MKV supports picture-based subtitles, so there's no need for any OCR, you just pass through the DVD subtitles.

OCR is required to convert picture-based subs to text-based subs for inclusion in a container than only supports such subtitles (like MP4).

Re: Transformers 2 Ripped but NO VALID SOURCE FOUND

Even if VLC can't read the DVD, it's possible that Handbrake can encode straight from disc - HandBrake only uses VLC's libdvdcss library.

Re: Transformers 2 Ripped but NO VALID SOURCE FOUND

wonder why on an updated version it wont work... seem a lil backwards lol Because Ripit sucks. The reason why 0.9.4 won't show it as a valid title is because sometimes these badly ripped titles will crash HandBrake. Just about every other ripper on the planet manages to rip DVDs in such a way that ...

Re: Windows GUI Bug with Chapter Markers (for DVD & Video)

I believe that I have experienced this same issue on svn2845. Opening any source that has chapters, regardless of the preset, will cause the chapter tab contents to disappear and the check box will be unselectable. Changing the title dropdown of the source to a different title populates the chapter...

Re: 0.94..what happened to xbox 360 preset

so i put 0.9.3 back on (thank crom the internet has a long memory) and it works fine with the High Profile setting. interesting. HandBrake 0.9.3 has no High Profile preset. seems it might have something to do with the strict anamorphic setting. the default i think is loose and the xbox doesn't appr...

Re: 0.9.4 produces garbage

Well that definitely sounds like it then (weighted P-frames), so adding weightp=0 should work.

Otherwise, assuming it works on the PS3 like it does on the 360, just use another player that supports weightp on your PC (e.g. VLC)…

Re: Turbo 1st pass slower than 2nd pass

The faster "turbo" options aren't necessarily as well threaded as the normal options. Put another way, x264 developers put more time into optimizing the slower options to scale better on multi-core machines. The turbo first pass uses some faster options that apparently don't scale very well. They'r...

Your player apparently doesn't support weighted p-frame prediction. You can try adding weightp=0 to your x264 options.

Re: [Fixed] [svn2979] Out-of-sync audio unless I resample

Yes, r2985 fixes the issue - not only is the audio in sync, but there no longer is a short silence at the beginning of the file like there was before even when resampling.

Thanks :D

Re: 0.9.4 + MetaX Not Working

Well, I just ran some files through MetaX 2.6.4 that were ripped with 0.9.4 and they work fine in iTunes. Then again I'm on a Quad G5 and it's only working as 32 Bit (both HB and MetaX) so that is probably why. Interesting. I was using the 32 bit versions as well without success. Are you running on...

Re: Turbo 1st pass slower than 2nd pass

Hm, why not? The faster "turbo" options aren't necessarily as well threaded as the normal options. Also, as x264 developer Dark_Shikari pointed out on IRC the other day, mb-tree lookahaead (and, IIRC, b-adapt 2) are only performed during the first pass, so that can slow down the first pass quite a ...

Re: Close captioning confusion

Does this mean, then, that a movie with only a Closed Caption option (and NOT a subtitle option) will then have the Closed Caption text "burned" into the movie when watched on an iPod Touch? No. As a matter of fact, since Closed Captions and SRT files are text-based and HandBrake doesn't have a tex...

You need to use an application to convert your DVDs' picture-based subtitles to text-based SRT files; then you can use HandBrake to passthrough the text-based subtitles to MP4. This would be done by (how)?!? What software is recommended for doing this? (Outside of Handbrake, since it seems like thi...

HandBrake passes through Closed Captions as QuickTime subtitles (the devs haven't figured out how to pass them as Closed Captions to MP4), so they'll be accessible via View > Subtitles instead of View > Show Closed Captioning.

Why do you keep posting this reply to every instance of this issue. This is not correct. My computer has plenty of resources (dual core 4 gigs of memory) and it still shuts down during processing. This is a problem with handbrake. This is completely unrelated - having a powerful PC doesn't make it ...
