Re: Audio completely replaced by static upon encoding from H.264 source

Good catch, I didn't have time to actually test it.

Re: Audio completely replaced by static upon encoding from H.264 source

Looks like the audio is being mis-detected as big-endian when it's actually little-endian. Funnily enough, my browser also seems to play static with this sample, when VLC and QuickTime Player seem to detect endianness correctly somehow.

You're supposed to get both, and the log confirms your QSV-enabled hardware is detected and should be usable. Not sure why the user interface isn't showing the encoders in the drop-down…

HandBrake does automatic cropping by default -- it works well with movies and TV series, but not with atypical sources such as yours.

I would try MakeMKV to see if it can work around the problem first.

Note that, if the scan doesn't find a usable set of "forced" subtitles, the first regular track will get burned in.
If it does, please post a log -- pretty sure this should be considered a bug.

if i tick "User Advanced tab instead" handbreak don't allow to use dropdown option of tune settings
Then you need to apply it manually by changing the individual settings.

Re: Including ALL subtitles, but only burning in forced ones.

Note: only one track can be burned-in. Otherwise you'd have overlaps and an unreadable mess. --all-subtitles and --subtitle are mutually exclusive and incompatible (the CLI should error out if you attempt to use both, not sure whether that's only in git master or already in 1.1.x). FWIW, you can als...

Not so rare.
Well it is rare to find interlaced Blu-ray discs of popular/mainstream studio movies and TV series.

Re: Will handbrake work on a WINDOWS-BASED Tablet?

It might run, but encoding video on a low-power device like a tablet will either be extremely slow (if the OS throttles the CPU properly to keep temps down) or fry your CPU.

Re: Loosing audio tracks when adding multiple jobs to queue

There's the audio list, and then there's another (sub)window where you select track selection behavior. Not sure how the GTK interface is set up exactly, but there's usually a button to show the latter, possibly labeled "Configure defaults" or something similar.

Still, what kind of display resolution and content are we talking about? Unless it's a slide show or something similar many encoders will fail to reach a 250 Kbps target.

It's just another encoder in the lost, so -e h264_qsv (after the above is sorted)
qsv_h264 ;)

h264_qsv is the decoder.

Re: Subtitle are kind if transparent

Your source isn't actually a DVD, it's an MPEG Program Stream (a single file) somehow mislabeled as an ISO image. This would explain it, the subtitle palette (controlling the colors) is not part of the MPEG-PS and found elsewhere on an actual DVD source.

There are no subtitle tracks on your DVD - they must be already hardcoded in the source (the DVD).

Re: Queue not applying input settings

That's normal behavior - each title gets the preset settings applied, but changes from the preset must be done for each individual title after selecting it via the title drop-down.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to store chapter/frame/time ranges in HandBrake presets.

MediaSDK, though IIRC MSDK leverages vaapi for decoding (but not encoding?).
