Re: Handbrake with OPtimus Nvidia MX250

HandBrake never had CUDA encoding support.

Re: Constant framerate setting doesn't work at 59.94fps

MediaInfo is wrong, the video bitstream is CFR. MediaInfo reports VFR because it's not possible to have an exact frame duration on a 90 KHz timebase given a 24000/1001 or 60000/1001 frame rate (3,753.75 and 1,501.5 ticks per frame, respectively). You could probably remux using different software and...

Re: DV tape best settings?

All 576p presets have Comb Detection and Decomb enabled, so they will deinterlace when required. A light denoise might be a good idea given the source, but I wouldn't recommend additional filters generally (but maybe on a case by case basis). Level 5.1 makes little sense for standard definition vide...

What if you disable the decomb and interlace detection filters?

Re: N o Image Seen

https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.3.0/work ... tings.html

Before you encode a live preview, the preview window shows static previews, 10 to 60 of them depending on the number of preview images to scan (set in settings). You can move through them using a slider.

Re: File size after enconding to H264 to original MPEG2 still quite large

We don't specifically prevent libx264 from encoding using H.264 interlaced coding techniques. libx264 also doesn't require interlaced input to be presented any differently from progressive input. Provided your input is interlaced to begin with, that you configure x264 to use interlaced coding, that ...

Erm, HandBrake does have static previews, yes, that's (one of the reasons) why we scan 10 to 60 previews every time you open a file.

Depends if you want to run multiple parallel encodes or not, and which video encoder you'll be using (x264, x265, another)?

This is technically a bug though :(

Re: H.265 (NVidia NVEnc) 10-Bit missing

Use any MKV H265 10-Bit hdr10 video, like bluray remux as input, select video encoder "H.265 (NVidia NVEnc)", you can let the encoder profile to auto, select encoder preset Slow, and the output is always 8-Bit, not 10-Bit. This is the expected behaviour. There is no support for 10bit NVEnc in HandB...

Re: Encoding bluray rip with Matroska H.265 or H.264 presets cause Manjaro Linux to crash/shutdown

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0): HandBrake version 1.3.3-4 (installed binary from official repo) If you mean the Manjaro repo, then it's not an official HandBrake build. It may not be the cause of the crash, but it's worth trying an official build just in case. Our official Linux builds are distrib...

It does look like there's a bug, just tried it with the official nightly. Probably something unexpected in libavformat setting it regardless.

Might also be an unexpected behavior of libavformat? You seem to be building HandBrake yourself given the audio encoder.

Re: HandBrake Ignoring --subtitle-default Option

Did you remux with mkvmerge after encoding with HandBrake?

I always thought HandBrake's default behavior was to not set any default track, but it may have changed or be overridden by a preset.

Re: What is "Low Power QuickSync Hardware"?

It's a special feature of the encoder, where it encodes using less power than a "normal" encode. It's only available on some hardware/platform combinations, not sure which yet.

Oh, a difference! :D

Windows is using hardware-accelerated H.264 decoding via Intel QSV (there's a checkbox somewhere in settings to disable it).

Wouldn't HandBrake 0.9.4 still run on PPC? It should still have target size, even (seems like that was removed in 0.9.6)…

Target size was removed from HandBrake because it was unreliable.
