Re: trouble detelecining 720p hdtv captures
Well, even though tlindgren's post makes it look like I'm hitting a dead end with handbrake I did find another example of the same problem and this is one where I get the behaviour with both the full file & the sample. So, I'm now linking to: the sample file http://drop.io/hb817817817_2 the log ...

Re: trouble detelecining 720p hdtv captures
more lies on my part! or maybe operator errors. I didn't include the detelecine log because the resulting file ended up with 60fps and all of the repeated frames. So, I concluded that the file was telecined. The decomb filter seemed to mostly work. here is the sample source file http://drop.io/hb817...

Re: trouble detelecining 720p hdtv captures
Ok first, sorry for not posted the required files along with the request. I had quickly scanned the log and didn't see any relevant errors or warnings. But, here it is now. http://handbrake.fr/pastebin/pastebin.php?show=950 Second, I've created a 19 second clip of the source file but I'm not sure ho...

trouble detelecining 720p hdtv captures
I'm working with the SVN2845 Snapshot and am having problems dropping repeated frames. My source files are 720p hdtv captures broadcast at 59.97fps. I thing the source material is film at 23.976fps because when I open the files in mediaplayer classic and step through them frame by frame I can see (n...

Re: multi-core processors, priority, & encoding queue
The queue shouldn't/doesn't have any effect on performance. Most likely you've enabled a filter which isn't multi-threaded and is thus a bottleneck. Without a log for an encode that is slow, we can't tell you why. See red box above the post. S55, thanks. I've been able to confirm that subsequent en...

Re: proposed 0.9.4 presets
It only has two posts and the proposed preset in question is the same. What is your problem? Read the thread. There are many posts. The presets by the end of the thread *are not the same* as the ones in the pastebin at the start. It's my thread. I know very well what's in it, and you are definitely...

Re: proposed 0.9.4 presets
The thread I referenced only has two posts and the proposed highprofile/television settings are identical. Care to provide a link? The only thread I'm aware of is the one in Development with 15 replies... The most recent proposals are dated March 4th . Sure. Its the one at the top of this thread. H...

Re: proposed 0.9.4 presets
*sigh* That's not even one of the current proposed presets. Why would you ignore everything after the first post in the thread? The thread I referenced only has two posts and the proposed highprofile/television settings are identical. I'll just sit tight until the stop being "proposed" an...

multi-core processors, priority, & encoding queue
Is there a trick to getting handbrake to use multiple cores when processing from the Queue? I've been concerned about the encoding times handbrake is producing. I have a quad-core AMD processor and 20 minute hdtv captures are taking 8 - 10 hours to complete using two pass encodes. I finally looked a...

Re: proposed 0.9.4 presets

proposed 0.9.4 presets
Can anyone tell me if its possible to use the proposed presets discussed here: http://handbrake.fr/pastebin/pastebin.php?show=424 with the current version? I've been trying to find CRF settings that will work with my 720p HDTV captures and I keep ending up with files that are larger than the origina...

Re: constant quality preset
Ted J, thanks for that gentle slap to the head. I guess my eyes started to swim as I was reading the post the first time. But, even know I'm unclear as to which present is being recommended for CQF encodes. Is it the new AppleTV preset? I'll give it a try and I'll try the manual adjustments to the H...

constant quality preset
OK, I've read through a bunch of the discussions concerning bitrate, two pass options, and the CQR settings. I thought I had understood the key point being that CQR profile does a better job with similar bit rates then doing two pass encodes. Previous to this I had been doing two pass encodes using ...
