Re: Blu-Ray Out of Sequence Scenes
Hi guys, I tried ripping Cabin In The Woods Blu-Ray. I tried title #1, title #35, and title which lists 00461.MPLS (all referenced in replies above). None of these is the correct playlist. In each instance, scenes seem to appear in random from start to finish. Not sure why this Blu-Ray has over 40 ...

Re: Force Subs on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
Can't tell you how pleased I am that HB is supporting subs in BR rips now. Going to make my life SOOO much easier! That said, I ripped my MI4:GP BR a couple of nights ago, and the nightly I'm running (5/26 version, quite current) seems to default to burning in English subs throughout all movies (of ...

Do the Star Wars BRs have subs that aren't hard coded in? What's the language code for "Huttese"? LOL

Re: Subtitles from Bluray are still not recognised
No BD subs yet. It's been on my list of things to do for a long time. But I just haven't gotten around to it. On a brighter note, someone else pinged me on IRC asking questions about how he might integrate some BD sub rendering code he is working on. So if his code is in good shape and he doesn't d...

Re: Looking For Help With Subtitles
HandBrake doesn't support Blu-ray subtitles. Any progress on that front? I seem to recall there was a discussion at one point of adding the feature, but that was some time ago. I've been using the instructions in this thread: https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=16784&start=25 .....

Re: Audio only rip and subtitle support for BD
2.) It would be great if Handbrake supported subtitles of BD discs. Via the forum search I've found only that it doesn't support this but not that it's suggested for future versions. :) This will happen. You'll just have to be very patient - there's no one working on it right now. Good news! (sorta...

Re: BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
Just to close out this issue, replacing my old Sony receiver with a lovely new Denon 2112 receiver (which now connects via HDMI) has solved the problem completely. My BR-sourced files look (and sound) fantastic coming from my ATV2! I haven't tried the new receiver connecting to the ATV2 via optical,...

Re: BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
Odd that it doesn't have a problem with actual Blu-ray discs All the BD sources you've provided logs for don't have AC3 audio, so your BD player wasn't sending that (what it was actually sending depends on what your receiver supports, how your BD player is configured and how it's connected to the r...

Re: BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
Confirmed. Encoded with the audio bitrate at 448 instead of 640, the receiver does fine.
Odd that it doesn't have a problem with actual Blu-ray discs, but I'll take this as an excuse to upgrade the receiver anyway.

Re: BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
Hmm. I need to reboot or something. Handbrake is throwing big errors and won't finish scanning any of my BR rips since I upgraded to the latest nightly. (rips that worked fine the first time with the nightly from April). Either that or this latest version has serious issues. If rebooting doesn't wor...

Re: BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
Your source doesn't have a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack does it? Handbrake 0.9.5 mistakenly identifies this as standard DTS, causing decoder issues... updating to the latest nightly build should fix this. [20:02:12] * audio track 1 [20:02:12] + decoder: English (DTS) (5.1 ch) (track 1, id 0x1100)...

Re: BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
As a test, I re-ran the first two chapters of Black Swan (I hadn't deleted the BR rip yet, fortunately). Per your notes, I tried to change the audio to 448 bitrate. The ATV2 preset chose two audio tracks. One was AAC (faac) and the other was AC3 Passthru. The AAC (faac) track's bitrate was 160, so n...

Re: BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
Interesting, thank you. I'll do a test rip to see.
If that solves the problem, of course, I'm back to needing to replace my receiver, I guess... or re-rip a LOT of blu-rays...
(I'm hoping it's the receiver! )

BR Rips have Audio Dropouts over optical with ATV2?
I'm beating my head against the wall on this one. I'm not running the absolute most recent nightly, but I'm not far back at svn3955 (I think from April?) I have an ATV2, and I use the ATV2 preset, completely stock/unmodified. I select the BR rip folder (or sometimes just pick the big m2ts file out t...

Ha! Same time posts.
Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot. My initial try is already done (and worked out perfectly other than the chapter thing), but it's worth re-ripping this one more time for chapter support.

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
The original OP does not specifically mention chapters in the makemkv portion of the guide - but it is possible (and most likely missed in your (compudude's) process. In the global tab of the makemkv ui - there's a section called chapters - where you would need to "attach" the chapters fi...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
Quick question: Does something in this process kill chapters? My straight BD-MKV-M4V conversion using MakeMKV and the ATV profile lost subtitles, of course, but I know there were chapters in the movie, because my test conversion of chapter 1 was the one that confirmed I needed to take extra steps to...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
Thanks for the guide, Destaas! My first conversion, Salt, is finishing up soon. Everything seemed to go really well, although there are a whopping SEVEN English subtitle tracks in this movie, making it kinda fun to figure out which one I needed. (hint: there's not a massive amount of foreign languag...

Re: Best settings for multiple devices
Here's a new(ish) spin on an old topic: I have an ATV, and I plan to pick up a new ATV2 shortly. I understand there are some new methods for generating new ATV2 files at a higer res than the original files, using the high profile preset and adjusting the width to 1280 (for HD sources, at least) I've...

Re: Handbrake & Bluray Drives
Using a newer nightly build... If you decrypt the Bluray using AnyDVD HD (or similar), Handbrake should now be able to parse the BR structure for things like audio languages, chapters, etc. very similar to how Handbrake handles DVDs. At this point, there is no BR subtitle support. If the Bluray has...

Hi guys, hope I can tag onto this thread, since it's a related topic: Can I just confirm the workflow here for basic BluRay conversions? I'm currently converting for my AppleTV (gen1), but just got a BR drive in my PC two days ago, so this is new to me, unlike my smoove DVD workflow. All finished fi...

Re: Any plans for an HD AppleTV preset?
There will be an HD AppleTV preset when the AppleTV can actually play something besides a tiny subset of HD. I see what you mean, but in all honesty, isn't an "HD Apple TV preset" sort of implying encoding the material TO that tiny subset of HD that the Apple TV can play? Thus the name &q...
