Re: Need help reducing noise in Looney Tunes DVD encodes
Are you encoding these from the original DVD source? Are you sure that whoever encoded the "Desired denoise result" screenshot did not take them from the Blu-Ray version? As far as I know, there is no Blu-Ray version of this particular cartoon, "Hare Remover." nyhone's custom no...

Re: Need help reducing noise in Looney Tunes DVD encodes
Is it possible to show how the original looks like? I don't have much experience with NLMeans, but if you use regular denoise, I would use ultralight spatial and strong temporal settings, such as 1:1:1:5:5:5 or even 2:2:2:7:7:7 (the highest I would go). [HandBrake 0.10.x requires 6 numbers.] So far...

Re: Need help reducing noise in Looney Tunes DVD encodes
You know, that's 35mm film stock and most people would like to keep the grain. That said, you may want to run some trials with NLMeans at various settings, and leave denoise off. Yes, I agree for the most part, but the file sizes I'm getting without denoise on are quite large. That's why I really l...

Need help reducing noise in Looney Tunes DVD encodes
I'm re-encoding my Looney Tunes cartoons, and I'm really having difficulties with Hanbrake's NLMeans denoise filter. I've tried the ultralight and light denoise settings with the Animation Tune , high profile 3.1, Animation tune, RF 18-20. In a lot of cases, the file size is still over 200 MB for a ...

Re: "Normal" vs "High Profile" ?
I'm curious about this too. I sometimes compare my DVD rips to ones online, and the torrent versions are always better quality than my own Handbrake rips. So I'm wondering what settings I need to enable in Handbrake to produce DVD rips that look as good as the ones I find online from the various sce...

Re: ATV 3, ios6, AC3 only after audio track switching?
The behaviour definitely changed with the last Apple TV update. Whether Apple broke it or "fixed" it remains to be seen. If it's a bug, I expect an update to be released fairly soon. If the new way is the preferred or proper (but less tolerant) way, then I wouldn't expect to see an update ...

Re: ATV 3, ios6, AC3 only after audio track switching?
Hi there, i wonder if anyone else is having this problem. Yesterday i installed the newest ios-update (shown as 6.0) on my Apple-TV3. I encode my videos with the HB-Preset Apple-TV3, so i have (in most cases) 4 Audio-Tracks (2 stereo and 2 AC3 passthrough) for my dual language films. Everything wen...

Re: Normal vs Universal preset. Which produces better qualit
Thanks. Good to know. With the presets, quality is mostly determined by the RF slider, correct?musicvid wrote:No need to use Universal (or any CAVLC) preset, save for a few first-generation portables and phones. It's there mostly for legacy reasons.

Normal vs Universal preset. Which produces better quality?
I have an older Mac, so I don't like using the Apple TV2 or High Profile presets to convert video because it takes far, far too long. I generally use the Normal preset because it's fast and produces good quality results. How does the Universal preset compare to the Normal preset with regards to pict...

Re: Ripping Looney Tunes disks
Out of curiosity, what do these discs look like when you use MakeMKV? Just one huge title with a bunch of chapters, or separate titles? SC Separate titles. The first title is usually all the cartoons (15 per disk) combined into a single file. The next 15 titles are the individual cartoons. After th...

Re: Ripping Looney Tunes disks
Okay, cool. I'll try that.lbutler wrote:I save that script into a file with #!/bin/bash as the first line, made it executable, and then simply ran it in the folder that contained the 4 ripped DVDs.
Thanks.

Re: Ripping Looney Tunes disks
How do you actually use this? Could you post more detailed instructions?
I've been trying to rip the Looney Tunes DVDs and it's been a pain having to select each track individually.

Re: CLI "Normal" preset and GUI "Normal" preset aren't the same
And your logs are where? Considering that the Normal preset is *supposed* to include chapter markers, I'm kind of confused about what your complaint is here...contrary to your thread title, the presets *are* the same. I would know. The Normal preset in the GUI quite definitely includes the line: [p...

CLI "Normal" preset and GUI "Normal" preset aren't the same
I'm new to HandbrakeCLI and I wanted to compare the speed of the GUI version to the CLI version (both 0.9.4). Using the "Normal" preset for both, I encoded a sample AVI with the GUI and then with the CLI. However, the resulting files were not identical as I expected. The M4V that the CLI e...

Create chapter markers not working (AVI to MV4)
I'm converting my old AVI rips (without chapters) to M4V movie files. I want the M4Vs to have chapter markers because it makes them easier to navigate in Front Row. So I've enabled "create chapter markers" but the completed M4Vs only contain "Chapter 1." There are no further chap...
