So is it just to squeeze a bit better quality and smaller file size over aTV1 profile?
For me who's just a standard, non fussy converter, would there be any real difference in converting an SD DVD to aTV 2 profile then?
So aTV 2 won't work at all on aTV 1?
Cheers

aTV 2 profile play on aTV1?
I have an aTV 1 at mo and use aTV 1 profile to play on it, my iPhone 4, iPad 2 and PS3 fine. I'm thinking of getting an aTV 2, can I start using the aTV2 profile to encode and it still play on the above devices? particularly the aTV1? What's the difference between them? 2) What meta tagger do people use on a Mac for tagging movie and TV shows? iTunes. This doesnt embed the tags in the actual file though, only for iTunes, iDevices. If I want to play on PS3 embedded shows the artwork etc I believe Will stick to Apple TV 1G preset, as I want it to play on iPhone 4 and...

I cant get used to Subler to be honest tried it, but just cant "get it", I've tried iDentify2, but get a few crashes with it, MetaX seems to be discontinued - development wise, anyway. Any others? Will stick to Apple TV 1G preset, as I want it to play on iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G anyway c...

Re: 0.9.5 will Apple TV preset work on iPhone 4 and PS3 too?
thanks people. So to summarise. Apple TV 1G preset, for all my devices is fine. Use *.mp4 extensions, and 5.1 is encoded with Apple TV 1G preset and then select the audio source on PS3. thanks so much, I'm a basic user but love HB for presets and compatibility. On another few notes... 1) Is there mu...

Re: 0.9.5 will Apple TV preset work on iPhone 4 and PS3 too?
You'll need to select the AC3 track manually on the PS3. That should be it (no need to alter the preset's settings). thanks, so the actual preset has the 5.1 sound track and stereo soundtrack already in to be encoded? All I have to do is manually select the 5.1 (AC3) audio selection when watching t...

cheers, Apple TV (1G) preset it is then! Oh 1 other question, as my PS3 is connected to my 5.1, how do I include 5.1 sound on it as well? Is v0.9.5 now much better (if thats the right word), now than 0.9.5 was? Is it faster encoding on the same system over 0.9.4? Better results? I'm not a video/enco...

Is it possible to run HB from a USB or not install it? I have a PC at work with Win 7 on with admin rights that I could run HB encodes on, but I don't want to install or leave any traces on.
Is this possible for HB and if so how please? And links

Are Blu Ray Digital copies better than the DVD converted?
I just got a Blu Ray that has a digital copy to. it plays on iPhone and iPods I believe. however I haven't used one of these before, and haven't activated it yet. What are the quality like on them? are they any better than say converting the DVD using HB to Apple TV format for example? (I normally u...

Can someone help me on re-conversion from an avi file to an Apple TV preset (m4v) tip please. Should I change anything in the bitrate, RF value etc?
I think I can expect it to be not as good quality as its going from compressed avi to compressed m4v?
Any general tips or anything please
cheers

Well, speed and quality are relative. Here is what I use: mixed-refs=1:b-adapt=2:b-pyramid=none:trellis=0:weightp=0:vbv-maxrate=5500:vbv-bufsize=5500 I discuss it here: http://dynaflashtech.net/2010/06/30/handbrake-appletv-hi-profile-setting-part-2/ When I looked in the AppleTV standard preset adva...

I see so chose AppleTV preset and modify the resolution to the above for the fps value?Rodeo wrote:As long as you encode in SD (720x576 up to 25 fps, 720x480 up to 30 fps), the AppleTV preset is also compatible with the iPhone 3GS.

Not bothered about iPod really, I have. 3GS but thinking of getting iPhone 4 or next year model so do t want to be restricted by this, would rather do a separate encode specifically for 3GS if I wanted it for that

Re: Encode Speed Question
Should be fine. If it reaches its thermal limits, it should auto-shutdown. WIth that said, I'd avoid doing long encodes in a warm/hot room, just for the sake of safety. Won't be a hot room, I'm in UK! Just worried about iMac running 100% CPU all night/8 hours that's all. I want to get my DVDs conve...

What's the major difeden between the AppleTV and Apple Universal setting? Universal will play on recent iPods (6G classic, iPhone, iPod touch, etc.). So quality not as good then if for these devices? Compared to AppleTV preset I'm looking for a decent preset for AppleTV (old one but think plays the...

Re: How can I speed up my encoding on my iMac
Thanks again for your help and explanations. The 1st advanced code string you gave although played on PS3 was a little "ghosty" and kind of like slow motion on the scenes. Anyway i can improve it? Or isn it just because of the PS3, the default Apple TV preset seemed to be fine so unsure of...

Re: How can I speed up my encoding on my iMac
QP 16? This will look like crap. Not to mention that MPEG-4 Video has different resolution limits on Apple devices (max. 640 x 480, even on AppleTV, IIRC - when you can go all the way up to 720x576@25fps or 720x480@30fps with H.264, even on the iPhone). If you want FFmpeg MPEG-4 like speeds with x2...

Re: How can I speed up my encoding on my iMac
Hi Been messing a bit, I chose straight from a DVD (Jurassic park), clicked Apple TV preset, but instead chose MPEG4 instead of H264, and chose QP of 16 (50%) - (not sure what this is? is this an "average" setting or should I be higher?) anyway, wow!!! now the average of th DVD conversion ...
